This is what I've been saying. A lower RRP benefits everyone, you all keep saying you don't make large margins on these products, and you don't seem resistant to the idea of having the price lowered, just with me complaining the price set by the manufacturers in Australia is too high like this is a personal attack on you. You will keep losing customers as long as the prices are this ridiculously high, I'm not blaming you, I know it has to come from the top, and that was what I was complaining about in the first place, the manufacturers set RRP.

No one sells at rrp these days and hasn't for years. This means margins are low, yet running cost stay the same or go up. less pay for same work. Why do you use emotive terms like ridiculous, rip off etc ? Do you haggle on the price for a newspaper or bottle of Milk ? why is a profit in car audio or any consumer electronics a rip off ? Consumers are haggling there way into having a very limited choice of retailers, as if any business cannot make a profit, it closes. Manufacturers suggest a retail price, so retail outlets can make a profit and continue to sell there goods. If retailers are forced to sell at near cost then the manufacturer still gets wholesale price for goods, but when there are less retailers, then there are less sales, so of course they want retailers to make a profit. That is how business works. Just because you einsteins have worked out you can buy online, play retailers off against each other, and get ridiculously low prices, and think you are winners, without the foresight to see what you are doing to whole industries, doesn't mean you are winners.

When good people can't get payed a fair days pay for their expertise, they move to where they can get it. As for me I think I will head down to Macca's and see what positions they have open, as at least that way I won't have to waste my time dealing with more of you good consumers with your self-righteous expectations of paying floor cost, and getting my hard earned knowledge and good advice for free.

I've sunk 10-5k into labour on car mods at a time in the past. Funnily enough before I decided to really concentrate on performance I was going to do my stereo, but first I thought I'd get rid of the crazy japanese stereo and replace it with something basic for 6 months or so until I went big. The specialist local bricks and mortar store I took it to installed the headunit, re-wired the speakers and installed a hands free car kit. I took it back twice because the hands free worked like crap and the head unit didn't auto raise the antenna with radio like it claimed on the box. Their response? "Oh your car doesn't do that". These guys "knew" I was coming back for an install, and instead of treating me like a valued customer, couldn't be f***ed spending time on my initial install.

What was wrong? They'd wired the f***ing antenna into the amp remote, and put the mic for the hands free on backwards.

How did I find that out? By working it out myself and fixing it.

So much for paying Australian workers Australian wages to put Australian food on their chinese table.

When it came time to buy my next item, why should I pay the extra cost that store charged, instead of doing what they taught me to do and install it myself after buying it at the lowest price?

This is irrelevant as to whats being discussed, but is a self justification of why you should screw retailers on price. I once got bad service, so therefore all service is bad, and all retailers are bad, so they should give me my purchases cheaper. You had bad service once, so what. Have you ever had good service ? I once went into a shop and got poor service, so guess what ? I didn't buy or go back. That's everyones right. I certainly didn't go online and use that as an excuse to kill an industry. I have also got great service and paid retail RRP and been happy to do so, as being in the industry(sales/service) I appreciate good service and advice, more than most, it seems.

I shop online but only for things I can't buy here, not for best price. If I can buy same thing here, I do, and I don't haggle, as I will only buy where I get good service, or it's an item that doesn't require any service. because I know what I want or it is right product for my needs. I actually love being sold too, as seeing a good salesman in action is a great experience, that IMO should be rewarded with a sale.

Anyway enough time wasted on this crap, I need to find a better paying job ASAP, because working it retail has lost all that was good about it, due to people like you. Yes I know you

Now can we get back to talking about this awesome bit of technology, as IMO it rocks, and I wish my HU had apps too

peace
