also wasnt rear main - the rear filter had blown out the seal (never seen that before?) and under load it was unloading all the oil out where the seal used to be all over the starter motor and down the bellhousing and along the sump.
Big sigh of relief.

down side of owning a patrol - pulling everyone out.
yesterday went for a drive with a few mates. 3 cars. gq patrol, amarok and a ranger. we get to the beach (which was bloody awesome, water was very warm, but saw some turtles n stuff cruising along) driving along, amarok gets bogged. (clutch still smells this morning) so the ranger snatches the VW and in the process gets bogged, but the vw got out. so i pull the ranger out. decide to call it a day (3pm anyways) so we head off. come across old mate in a vitara sitting on its diffs in the mud flat. he is sunburnt to all hell, pissed as anyone could possibly get, so we pull him out. then a couple k down the track a hilux stuck. he tried to get across what looked solid, but was very muddy. his front right wheel was completly under mud. so i snatch him out.
and not even a beer was offered.
i will put some photos up when we get settled. all of our stuff got delivered yesterday so trying to get organised. and that boat that was for sale dropped his price 3k. now 11k ono. damn tempting....

Man I nearly god bogged in suburbia yesterday!
Been down gippsland took a few tracks off grand ridge road after having a BBQ at Mossvale park with the funbuster and Yoshi. All was well - was a little nervous as I didnt have straps or even my hitch reciever but I took to a couple of chicken tracks where I was a bit nervous about getting through some tougher (bloody gippsland mud!) spots. Any way come back we're going through dande and I say to kel how about checking out where that fire was a few weeks ago. So we head down a dirt road then theres a small track and a sign "dry weather only" being summer I'm thinking all is good. head down there track is rough getting bounced around a bit. wack it into 4L for a bit more throttle control as the bumps are knocking us about a bit. Next thing I'm slidding towards a creek on near flat ground - WTF. I didnt even have my stauns with me so I couldnt air down and I was looking at being in the wrong spot across some pretty serious ruts and I did not have enough diff clearance for that (seriously they must have been dug out by 37" claws!)
Managed to use the side bitters to get out (dont think the steering box liked it much though) and back straddling the ruts. Decided "f**k this" the ground was mostly organic matter top soil so it I would have been well rooted if it started digging.
Would would have guessed you could (nearly) get stuck half way between work and home in the metro area

I'm thinking I'll get mine through Shane at suspension stuff as I want a bit of superiour engineering stuff and he seems to be he cheapest on that stuff. But I want drop boxes from Road Runner as they require no chassis cutting.
I want to do a 3" lift as then I can correct the steering geometry properly even though its not legal. 2" you cant really correct the geometry really can only correct castor but thats legal. Bit stupid really when you concider how much unsprung weight there is to keep the car upright.
