Mmm, I should probably note I didn't go much past what I felt was a "comfortable" level (around 20-23 on the demo HU) and that was more to 'cover' the sound of the beats Bsyde was spinning downstairs. ;)

Hehe yeah. I normally listen at pretty modest levels when auditioning because in the room it's quiet so you don't really need any louder.

However, while the listening room may be quiet with a nice low noise floor, cars typically are not. You will likely have the volume much louder in a car to overcome road noise etc, and I now test speakers at higher volumes also to give an indication of how they might perform in a less quiet environment like a car.

It's always interesting because two sets of components can completely switch around once you up the volume - the one that initially sounds great can get harsh and aggressive real quick, while the one that initially seemed a bit dull might maintain it's composure and even sound better.

So if you had a first for the year that would mean there would have to be a last BBQ for the year too, no?

I'd love to see how a couple of cars have progressed.
