Hi, I currently have an Alpine CDA-7998R HU and an iPhone4, now what I am wanting to know is, does Alpine manufacture such a device for me to use my iPhone4 with this HU, whether it be Bluetooth or wired...
I understand that the user interface (head unit) will be limited but I'm looking for a solution that will allow me to keep my HU. The best way to explain what exactly I want to do is, say I want to receive a phone call (via iPhone) is there a way with any given device to interrupt the HU to allow me to receive the phone call (sound coming from speakers).
I also have PXA-H700, any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Domza.

I've just recently gone down a similar path, although the headunit I have is supposedly a multimedia headunit
I wanted better sound and now have it from any apple device including an ipad or even PC!
I managed to get hold of a onkyo ND-S1, this allows me to directly run an ipod touch/iphone or ipad (via USB) into the processor
then using an optical out from the ND-S1 to the h701 processor.
because Im using the ainet cable from my headunit (w505) I can use the volume control and still adjust any sound settings.
you dont even need a rux controller for this setup
I ended up plugging the optical cable into Opt 1 and turning the Aux on, on the headunit
I just switch it to Aux and connect the iphone or ipad to the onkyo.
Also leechtunes plays a major part if you want to navigate through music easily while driving (brilliant program and there is a free version)
only thing to consider is powering a 240v device in the car the (ND-S1) and you might want to source some extension cables for the iphone to run it from the dock
I've stuck the ND-S1 under front seat in my setup
Im enjoying the difference in sound that much that Im now thinking about ditching my headunit and using the rux with a itouch or my iphone as a permanent source
all my music is in looseless too!
