I've heard the 7 series MP components and was very impressed. Definately a cut above other component sets I've heard, but they are incredibly expensive!

Not as expensive as before. $2349 (2way) and $2999 (3way) for the top of the range "i" series (with the new MKIII tweeter). Well worth a look in this price bracket, stock is due any day now.

Is that the series 7? If so that's much more reasonable, though still on the high end. Fair though when you compare them to the likes of the Morel Supremo, Focal Utopia, Hertz Mille, Dyn Esotar, etc. The Microprecision 7 series are better then all on that list from what I recall.

"Expensive" gear doesn't = Good Sound Quality, but it sure gave me "EXCLUSIVITY"

Yep, that's for the 7 series, 5 series is priced from $1499 for the 5.16 up to $2349 for the 3way including the renowned 5.8 "widerange" drivers and the 7.28 MKIII tweeter. The range starts at $949 for the 3.13 (5.25") set or the 3.16 (6.5") set. We will have available the Z series, and the ultra special Z Studios..

Sorry for the late comment, didn't see this post :D

The first impression I got when I heard the Micro-Precision is that they sound a lot more like a solid DIY hi-fi speaker then a car audio speaker. Much more of a Vifa type of sound - clean and smooth and they sounded like they had minimal distortion. I was really quite impressed.

The only criticism I had is that they sounded like the crossovers could possibly use some tuning - the integration between tweeter and mid was not quite perfect, and it sounded like it was around the crossover point. Sounded to me like it may have been either a slight response gap or a slight phase mismatch (possibly a combination of the two), but the drivers themselves sounded really quite excellent and I feel they might have a lot of potential run active with some crossover tuning.

Now please note that I found these drivers sounded very natural, transparent and linear with extremely low colouration. It's a style of sound that I'm personally very fond of because I am 100% all about accuracy and faithful reproduction. Some people out there like speakers that are coloured in a certain way ('warm', bright highs, slighly overemphasised midbass, etc) and those who enjoy a bit of colouration may find these not to their tastes. Though it's also worth nothing that speakers as described above tend to sound characterful initially, but get more uncomfortable and fatiguing the more you listening to tem. More tonally accurate and low disotrtion speakers can sound a little uneventful at first, but they never get fatiguing - the longer you listen to them the more you appreciate them.

Just my 2c, and purely a subjective analysis from the time I listend to these. I compared them against some pretty highly regarding speaker sets at the time (including Morel Supremo, Dynaudio Esotar, Alpine Type X, DLS Scandanavia, Lotus Reference) and in my personal opinion the Micro Precision were a cut above the rest, and one of the rare few sets I could actually see myself buying if I ever get over custom DIY installs. :)
