Couple of good suggestions there... Hopefully the weather hold off for you...

Will also throw Victor Harbor out there too, quite nice (just damn cold though).

I think the Barossa should be a definite.

That's about all Adelaide has to offer lol...

If you fancy a catch up ill give you a good run down of some of the beautiful roads the Adelaide hills has to offer ;)

Not the best time of year to be here i have to admit, not overly cold but wet :(

TY for offer Sam, will depend on what my partner wants to do.. technically its a work related trip there.. but leaves my weekends free :)

My partner does have a house in Victor Harbour, we normally go there when the weather is nicer, but this time, since I will working out of Pirie Street, thinking we will stay central.

I think we may just log some time in bed, I think we might watch the The Millennium Trilogy -

Definetely a trip to the barossa is in order - It's a great day out, even moreso when you come home with some of Australia's finest reds.
From there, there's not a whole lot - Adelaide is a pretty sleepy little city, so unless you feel like exploring what the outer metro has to offer in terms of farmer's markets, wine, cheese, smallgoods etc, it won't really live up to the bigger city experience people are used to when they visit Brisbane/Sydney/Melbourne.

That's my 2c. We have beautiful scenery, awesome regional produce, and relaxed beach culture to offer - it's a great way to spend a weekend.

If you're after a couple of great restaurants for a nice dinner with your missus, can drop afew suggestions in here for you.

I do love my reds :) We planning to do Maggie Beers and some wineries, then come back and do a butter chicken for dinner - so that should nicely.

Resturants please do - I am not all the familiar with what Adelaide has to offer, I have been there a bit for work, but normally I see my motel room, and then HO in Pirie Street and not much else.

We love all Asian foods, italian, good fish and chups - I have been told to go to Sotos Fish and Chips in Semaphore - that's near our house in West Lakes Shore.

We land at 11am on Friday - so i have a few hours to kill before dinner, so we will do Yum Cha and I think "the Farmers Markets" - I believe that's what its called.

Definetely scope out Yum Cha at the markets on Friday. I like Ding Hao for Yum Cha, but its always worth scoping out where the locals are hanging out. Actually, the Markets are totally worth a gander if you're into local food - scoping out the Cheeses is a must for any cheese fan.

In the Barossa, Maggie Beers is really nice place to hit up lunch,. Whistler wines is just around the corner and they make some great Reds. If you get a chance hit up Peter Lehmann wines as well - nice winery with a large picnic area and they do some seasonal produce platters too. Yalumba is also a nice winery to check out although it's slightly out of Tanunda - massive wine selection, really nice tasting room, and free delivery on any wine you purchase too (the "running with bulls" tempranillo is my fav temp at the moment, sadly we just finished our last case so we'll be heading back soon LOL).

George's is a really nice Italian place to get some homestyle lunch into you in the winter - the service is by far some of the best in i've seen at any city cafe and it's on Pirie street too which may be a bonus for you.
Alfonso's is another little Italian place on Hutt Street, there's also Chianti Classico up the road if you feel like more of a "fine dine" experience. By then you might as well hit up North Adelaide and get into Sparrow (Spanish + Tapas) or The Manse (Modern Aus fine dining). Another one i recently checked out with my wife is Celsius - very impressed with the decor and food. We tend to cook our own Asian food these days, but i'm pretty sure relaxed casual Thai style food can be had on Rundle Street in the city - Lemongrass is one of our fav's for a quick bite, there's also a couple of decent Indian joints, my favourite is Aria on O'Connell street in North Adelaide.

Around your area in West Lakes, it's mainly pub grub - Grange hotel does some good pub grub and has nice beach atmosphere. 15 minutes south, The Dublin hotel at Glenelg has by far the best Mushroom sauce i've had in my life, and they do a decent steak sambo too. Henley Square is worth hitting up too, and it's only 5 minutes drive from you.

That's about all i can think of off the top of my head LOL

Sorin is right on the money.

I have to agree that Sparrow on O'Connell Street in North Adelaide is very nice.

If your looking for a butter chicken "Beyond India" on O'Connell Street is nice or there is always the "Taj Tandoor" on Rundle Street which is IMO the best place in the city for Butter Chicken.

Also while im sure its the last thing you want to do while in a different City but if the weather is really bad and your in Rundle Street and want to see a film ill get you tickets :)

Sorin - huge thanks dude, that is awesome.. really appreciate it!!

We have booked Ding Hao for yum cha on Friday.. Already excited, I do love a good cha. Cheeses and wines - I am in heaven :)

Whistler wines - hmmm not familar with them, but definately give them a try. I do love a good Peter Lehmann wine, so that's a must visit.

Looking like it, there is plenty for us to do, I am sure we won't be bored.. hopefully get back there sooner rather than later - work is wanting me to possibly move to SA, so this could be the reason they putting us both over there :) hahahaha

So my itineary looks like this:
Friday

land in SA11am..
Yum Cha at Ding Hao
Hit the markets for food, for our Jimmy's Masterchef Butter Chicken
Dinner - the best SA fish and chips from Sotos on Semaphore Road to be eaten on Semaphore jetty

Saturday -
Get up for walk along beach
Hit the Barossa - lunch and mid arvo at Maggie Beer's restaurant
Cook butter chicken for dinner - enjoy that, with wine, followed by Lemon Delicious and DVD - Girl With the Dragon Tattoo

Sunday
Walk along the beach
Brunch at Brown Dog cafe, Goodwood Road
Lunch Nghi Ngan Quan Vietnamese restaurant in Adelaide on Hanson Road
Icecream on Jetty Road
fly home 7pm
