Hi guys

I'm kitting out a 2000 Magna wagon as a work vehicle for my new business. I know it's not the latest and greatest, but it's tidy and affordable! :rolleyes:

It's going to end up with about $30k worth of testing equipment in the back of it. I'm having dark tint put on tomorrow, and will be building a shelf / drawer unit that the gear will all be hidden under, but obviously still want a damn good alarm/tracking system to go with it.

The Magna is a standard exec with just central locking and transponder key linked to factory immobiliser. No remote entry, no electric windows. I'm looking around at alarms that have 1) keyless entry; 2) really, really fricken good detectors (glass break, doors, bonnet, microwave??) and 3) trigger a GSM/GPS tracker unit if the alarm goes off. I'm waiting on a quote to come through from Westside Audio which should be about $500 fitted for an Autowatch alarm (model not known yet) and about $800 fitted for a GSM/GPS tracker (again, don't know which until quote comes through).

Keen on any recommendations for systems that would meet the bill, and also reliable installers in Perth.

Cheers =)
Moph

My recommendation is portable property insurance.
Make sure you gear that you carry around in your vehicle is listed on your contents insurance and is covered when away from your business/home.

My boys are forever having gear knocked off from their work trucks - most of the time they can watch it happen. The worlds greatest alarm is as useful as tits on a bull if you cant stop the person taking your gear. And lets be honest are you going to confront some junkie chasing? I certainly wouldn't...

Securing your vehicle is a great idea dont get me wrong - but a.) know a security system is not the be all and end all b.) make sure your portable property is insured properly.
Photograph and write down make modela nd serial numbers and any personal identification of the items. I have heard that its even better if you can take photos of the objects with your drivers licence on display too to prove the photos are yours.

Also look to things like outback draws like 4wders use. The make a huge difference for security and organisation reasons - they also help you to distribute weight correctly - heavy items down low.
