Eclipse AVN726EA FM reception problems

I have replaced the standard radio in the 2006 Touareg for an Eclipse AVN726 Radio/DVD/GPS double din head. I am getting poor FM radio reception and no AM reception. Eclipse tell me that the VW antenna in the widow is the problem and boosters won't fix the problem. Does anyone have any experience or suggestions to make. If the only resort is another antenna can the small roof mounted antennas be used. I can not use anything over 100mm above the roof. Does anyone know what rear cameras can be used with the Eclipse unit. The wiring from the head unit to the back of the car has been installed but the camera is not fitted.The Eclipse is way too expensive in Australia. I believe the correct cameras are 5 or 6 volt. Thanks.

camera is a 6v unit
and with the antenna problem
aerpro have a range of aftermarket adaptors
have you tried contacting them?
