I am not an Apple lover and today I took an old Hi-Fi amp and some bookshelf speakers around to a mates place so he could have some tunes in his garage. We gave it all a good blast to see if it sounded OK and I could hear something strange going on, and after removing the speaker grilles I saw the cones getting some crazy amount of excursion but it looked like it was at something silly like 2-5Hz..

Is this possible to have frequncies that low coming out of an iPod? It didn't happen on every track and I have no idea what quality they were when transferred to th iPod but I am a bit worried for my poor old speakers as I really like them. I turned the bass knob down but it didn't seem to reduce the crazy low freq excursion but it did reduce the bass you could hear. I know the amp(old Japanese JVC) will put out below 20Hz as I have used a signal generato on it to see what it would do but I have no idea why an iPod may output those frequencies.

Sorry for such a weird question.

I'm guessing it was a poor quality free download knowing my mate but I didn't think an iPod would output anything sub 20Hz but it seems I was wrong.
