Hey all, I have a alphine pxa-h800 sound processor in my car, im using it to retain my factory head unit. Car is a Holden VE (Australian) I have it all wired up correctly (so I believe). Once I plugged the laptop into the processor and open up the processor sound manager program the processor turns on. I haven't got the speakers connected thru it yet tho as I don't want to lose sound while I'm tryna figure this all out. Does any body have any ideas for me?

I'm wondering if the speakers need to be connected to help turn it on, but I don't think so.

If anyone has any ideas or answers I'm all ears, thanks.

Just a hunch bud:

This is a quote from Damon's review of the processor:

Alpine’s system is quite similar, and guides you through choices for system speaker configuration, input configuration, and a choice of high or low range signal input levels. There’s no scanning of the factory system’s input signal using the test CD, however, plus there’s no specific mention of which RCAs are used on the output for which signals.

My first head scratching moment came when the blue illumination ‘cube’ on top of the PXA-H800 refused to come on even though I had 12V at both of the power and trigger inputs as well as an earth. I took the unit to my test bench instead where powering it via my Jaytech power supply showed that the unit was indeed drawing 0.9-amps of current even though the blue light was not illuminated. It wasn’t unit I patched in the USB cable and launched the Sound Manager program that the PXA-H800 winking into life. Hey Alpine, any chance of just letting the cube come on when power is connected? Cheers.

How exactly are you determining whether it has power or not? If just by the illumination, this could be your problem? Posted Image

Thanks for that, I have read that review and that part and that's excatly what mine is doing. But my amps arnt turning on with the key so that's how I know it isnt working. I'm wanting to them to turn on everytime I turn the car on.

Is it possible then that the amps are the problem (whether wiring or otherwise)?

The processor doesn't feed the amps for power or ignition switching (generally anyway)

Btw, when you say the speakers aren't hooked up...do you mean to the amp or do you mean you haven't put a speaker level signal to the processor?

Do you have the controller installed as well?

Unless you have the controller or an Alpine head unit it will not turn on (or you plug a PC in).
The remote turn on does not work like every other piece of equipment, hopefully they make it so it does with a firmware update.

No I don't believe the amps are the problem because when the laptop powers on the processor the amps light up. The amps have there separate power and ground. I had the speakers hooked up thru the processor, then thru the amps, but it isn't working so I have put the speakers back to factory wiring off the Factory HU until i can sort it out.

No don't have the rux controller, so I'm guessing that's my problem then??

Is that a bug?

Because I didn't think that was the way alpine intended it?

Do the amps have their own remote wire? Or are they able to sense via input?

Nah there just a normal amp, remote, power and ground. I have the remote coming from the processor

Unit will not work without a laptop OR Alpine headunit OR RUX controller connected. Lots of talk about a firmware update to fix this but nothing official from alpine. Looks like alpine want to make some more money by either selling you the controller or a headunit.

Thanks mate.

I knew there were some teething problems, but didn't know of this one. Most of the ones I have seen on here have had the controller though

Definitly need the RUX controller.
I have posted on here NUMEROUS times stating that.
Ai-Net Headunit, Rux Controller, or PC.

Shame the place you purchased it from did not mention that to you

Take it back to the place you bought it from

The magic words are that the processor is not fit for purpose
