So I have spotted a Panasonic Toughbook second hand on eBay and the description seems very vague and the seller has only one previous sale.
It's supposedly in Oz yet shows GBP for the price and lists Royal Mail as postage method, it also lists two different screen sizes in the listing.

$115 on Paypal, do I risk it? I shot them a qestion listing all my concerns so we'll see what happens.

I need a laptop as I am getting a Volvo diagnostic unit and I just want something cheap to leave in the car for datalogging and reading fault codes etc.
If it has the genuine Mil Spec internals it would be an awesome buy.

Cheers,

James.

the tough books are pretty cool, never been the most powerful computers around, but you can throw them at the wall if you get crapty at it and it will keep going!

if its a scam, i dunno..

Selling Fudd an amp (for a fraction of the real price) that had been returned by Autobarn Geelong which had been incorrectly used by AB Geelong and turned out to be faulty when Fudd started using it.
Whilst he was given a new amp after it could not be fixed, he never acknowledged any of the assistance given and bitches to this day about it.

Yeah cheers Fudd I ended up going for a Fujitsu T5010 ex demo notebook tablet thingy, I got a bit keen and didn't realise the 15% comission on Grays was on top of the purchae price, that plus $50 postage made it pretty pricey but it should work well.

yeah that 15% puts me off on Grays, there has ben a few things i have wanted but by the time you factor that in, and the expensive freight it doesn't always make it feasible.

Tablet would be pretty handy for what you are doing though i reckon!.

Tablet FTW.
Yeah the grays 15% and that really doesnt make sence in an online environment.
I understand thats the standard in an auction house but online it just doesnt make sence when real time adjustments could be made to the "auction price".

The pricey freight though IMO is what kills a lot of the greys auctions. Theres been a lot of stuff I've wanted to buy but the freight kills it and a few times Ive got quotes on freight and my freight prices have been cheaper but theres been a "no private freight" policy or some crap. I've concider driving upto sydney a few times for machinery and I could drive up and back cheaper than they freight! Its jus tthe time off work I cant afford LOL

Computer turned up tody and it looks brand spanking new, it took well over an hour to load all the drivers but it works a treat and cost over $1400 less than a new one oh and it is now running XP tablet SP3 so it will run my scan software when it arrives.

Yeah I could but the tablet software seems OK now, I will see if it works with the Volvo software, I don't think it will but that's OK.

Windows 8 isn't too far away I'll just wait for that.
