Hey Guys
after some advice, I have just purchased and installed a ALPINE CDE-123e along with a genuine alpine KCE-433iV cable for the Iphone.
The problem is that if i plug an OLD ipod into it it works perfectly, but if i put any iphone either running IOS4 or IOS5 the phones dont detect that there is a cable plugged in.
has anyone had this happen? the headunit is SUPPOSED to work fine with iphones.
advice?
Cheers

I don't have this issue with my iPhone and Alpine 9887, however a mate of mine had a similar problem to yours.
He found that he had to play a song on the iPhone first (i.e. the sound coming out of the speaker on the phone), and only then plug it into the headunit. Have you tried this?

Yes, I drive a VT Commodore. No, I do not fit the stereotype... Hopefully.

In what way does it not work.
They have iPod on front and rear to change between them try hitting the BAND button when on iPod.
If still no go i would say IOS5 is the problem.

iOS5 is an issue at the moment with all Headunits in general so I have been told and I have had confirmation of this through multiple people downloading and running iOS5 on their phones and having this same problem, there should be an update soon though that will correct this problem, as for iOS4 the Alpine unit shouldn't have a problem reading this try maybe resetting the unit and see if that helps

It's a long shot but do a hard reset on the phone, hold the power button and the home button until the apple logo shows up. Otherwise join the alpine site and in the members section see if there is a firmware update for that unit.

The CDE-123 doesn't use the 433 full speed lead it has a KCU-440i cable go back to where you got it from and get that cable. Its been a while since the first post but no one had said that they fixed the fault, plus it should have came with a KCE-250bt blue tooth that uses the fullspeed outlet of the unit.
