As it turns out I am stuck in a UAE airport with no money, I didn't know I was stuck in an Arab Airport but my emails and Facebook PM's would have you believe different.

First of for a couple of weeks my Facebook would randomly decide to change passwords, no biggie change it and away we go. Yesterday I go to log in to my email and can't do it, password has been changed, try to log in to my email through Face book and find that password has changed too.

I changed my email password by having the login details sent to another email address, then I try to log in to FB to see what I am up to and the passwords have changed again. I change my password and notice a bogus email account on my FB details, it looked very similar to my actual email address so I delete that and go through the rest of my security setting and set them all back to how I had them.

After getting it all back to normal I go for a new password and send it to my now(assumed) safe Yahoo email address, turns out there was a Blackberry added to my FB account that I didn't see, turns out they had full access to my FB account and my email so any time I canged a password they had it instantly, I searched my email account for all recent IP addresses active and found the blackberry device had been messing around in my email account quite a bit.

I also managed to find whoever was on my FB account when I logged in was in Laos but sadly wasn't quick enough to get any more details.

So I guess this is a bit of a warning for ya'll and always check when you log in to FB that it doesn't alter the email address with it's auto spell correct thingy, or you may make it easier for scammers to steal your details.

I now have a Western Union account, ha ha, if any of my friends pay the money they don't deserve to have it.

EDIT- Oh yeah I haven't recieved one email since it all started, I wonder where they are getting sent or if they are just being deleted.

Part of the reason I closed my facebook account was because of security concerns I had as I kept noticing odd things and there would be incomplete messages etc in my inbox. Also my email attached to my facebook was telling me every time I logged in (which admittedly is rarely) that my account had been compromised and to change my password. Then for some reason I went to my sent items to check something and noticed that I was sending about 100 emails every day to all my contacts. Closed facebook and regained my email...
Took me hours I deleted every friend individually, all my status updates, as many photo taggings as I could, messages, photos, apps etc etc before changing my password and closing (not suspending) my account.
Not meaning to sound like a wanker but identity theft is pretty rife in western countries particularly the US. My brother inlaw was born in the states and has quite a few friends and family over their. One of their friends cant get credit, can't fly outside the US etc because of identity theft. Its been going on 3 years with govenment departments doing checks etc. This guy is a just a joe average 29yr old guy. They've told him that the people who have likely stolen his identity probably used social media to get a good profile on him to line up against stolen data to make going for credit applications etc more fluid.

With your email had you been chaging it back to what it was each time or a variation of? and your secret question had you been changing that and making sure no email accounts were linked? When I closed my face book I changed all these and I noted that there was a linked email account.

Cide I closed my Facebook account unit I can sort my email address, at the moment I'm still not sure what is happpening, the first time I sent spam I recieved a whole bunch of failure notices. This time I have no recent emails in my outbox but a lot of my friends have told me I sent them spam, on facebook I saw the message I sent out went to 32 people.

I had a chat to someone on Yahoo last night and they said they didn't have the resources to fix it here and sent me to the American help site, it looked legit so I sent them a detailed description of what had happened.

My facebook account propbably isn't the best thing to use if you want to steal an identity, it's not a very good identity to steal, ha ha! My facebook is just for talking crap and organising bike rides, hell, up til last week my name was Jewbacca.

Sparkles identity theft has worried me a bit but we'll see what happens, my brother will be back in a couple of days, he goes alright with computers so I'll see if he can hunt the pricks down. I changed my linked email account and I was getting emails saying I had changed my password more times than I actually had which made sense as the other party were one step ahead for a little while.
Once I deleted the Blackberry connection from my email it all seems to be normal again, well except for the fact I don't recieve any emails.

Thing with facebook is that many of us have all our siblings, parents etc listed and I know that I have passed on my address in messages to people. That stuff if someone gets into your facebook they can get your address etc. Many people use the same password for banking etc.

Imagine if you've given bank details (bsb and account)

call the bank :
Hacker: Hi its 'Michael Smith' here I wanted to change my address
Bank: Yes Michael do you have your customer number handy?
Hacker: No im sorry I dont - I have my BSB and account number though?
Bank: Ok sure can you give me those numbers"
Hacker: BSB 093555 Account 67377777222
Bank: Thankyou Michael, can you tell me your date of birth, current listed address and your mothers maiden name?
Hacker: Yes (reading from facebook) My date of birth is 31/02/1985, my current listed address is 38 sunnday cresent, sumware NSW 2222 and mums maiden name is rodgers

Whilst he was given a new amp after it could not be fixed, he never acknowledged any of the assistance given and bitches to this day about it.

My Facebook had 49 friends, no siblings and no one that was easily offended, never post my phone number or address, my school was man slut acadamey, etc etc not much use to someone that wants to steal my identity.

My email on the other hand, that could cause me some serious issues, fudd yeah a lot of people I know use Yahoo, anything wrong with it?

Man everyone I know uses Hotmail or Gmail for freeweb email.
I used to have a Yahoo email address to use Y! but MSN smashed the feck out of Y! and there were less international webcam sluts adding you on MSN compared to Y! Then there was ICQ how I miss the days of ICQ and mIRC.
*sighs*

My yahoo email was demolished with spam, same as my hotmail.

Gmail on the other hand has been the bomb!

So it's all fixed now and I feel like a complete idiot, I forgot about email forwarding in my account, I've never had a need for it so I forgot about it completely. All they were doing was forwarding my emails to another account and replying through an account that was identical in name except for a missing 7.

I got myself a Gmail now I don't like being able to log in to my email with my facebook account, that is just stupid.

Still no replies from Yahoo.

Turns out it was my stupidity that caused it all, I clicked a yahoo verify your email account link in an email and that is what caused the whole drama. I did have an email that hadn't been verified and I clicked the wrong email.

If you find an email from this man chairman@ibi-bankiraq.com do not click it, it looks 100% genuine but the sender shows up as the dodgy prick I listed. Just went to email the email address they set up for me and they have pulled it already.

I was thinking you must have had an easy to guess password but your last post explains it all. My whole family just click everything in every email they get and wonder why their computers are always f***ed.

Good to hear you got it sorted :)

Also, I still use Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail and mail2* webmail... All work fine and the spam filters in them keep them pretty much clean :good:
