What a great weekend with some awesome results… One of the closest events we’ve ever seen…

In intermediate class there was 3.5 points separating the top 5 competitors… We had Billy Kirpis in his Liberty come in runner up within half a point of first place, which was taken by Daniel Henderson in his Navara… We asked Billy to think back to the first round and how much he and his car had evolved since then and the better understanding that Billy now has of sound quality… He and his partner Pauline are a big part of the Phatt Family and we would love to say a big thank you for all the support you have shown us throughout the season…

In Advanced we had Damo Tennent in his commodore wagon, after he’d had his amp rack powder coated and reinstalled the amps, we’d given it a bit of a quick tune but the SQ’s weren’t where we would like them to be, still a good year for Damo, considering he wasn’t going to be entering this year… Mr Damo, a big hug, but no kiss from everyone here at Phatt (except from Tess… and maybe Jay)… Damo is one of the founding members of the Phatt Phamily and is a true inspiration to all of us here…

Mario Pansino and his little mascots, Christian and Jordan, came along for the show, we were meant to make a few more alterations for show class but as usual ran out of time… We’ll see what next year has to offer… Big thank you for all of your support this year, Bro!

Jay Standerwick in his BMW… What can we say about Jay? He up and changed EVERYTHING!!! With his dash in two pieces the night before finals, we weren’t sure if he was going to make it… Great effort getting it together… Unfortunately, no time for tuning and the speakers were still new and hadn’t been run in anyway… Now Jay, back to work!!!

We had David Bridges in his Aurion with the new Alpine processor in equal 5th with one of the FCA guys… With only an hour tune for the first time on this new processor the system sounded like we had changed everything and it was the best the car has sounded to date…

Sara in SOJUCY came Runner Up!!! This was so unexpected… We had changed the mid-bass drivers (Morel Supremo) last round and haven’t gotten around to finishing the door pods yet and finally finished the new A Pillars (which we had been working on slowly for about 2 months)(these too are Supremo’s… Not like the pizza but almost as big), one day before the National Finals which gave us only an hour or two to tune… Plenty more room for this set up to go further next year… Great work Sara!

In Expert class Sam came in 5th in Tekken with the new set up still running in, the new Phoenix amps are working a treat, now it’s time to start tweaking the processor as there are a few glitches in the sub-bass area and even though it’s an RX7 the car now has plenty of head room… (Hugh Grant, no pun intended)… I’d personally like to thank myself for being there for me, helping me do the install, driving me around, judging at all the shows, on that note a big thank you to all the other judges for all their judging throughout the year, it has been a lot of fun and I hope to continue next year

Simon in SQXPRT came in 3rd finally finding all of his niceness (and his new mid-range speakers), just half a point behind second place… Simon had been searching for his SQ’s nearly all season and has only just started to tap the new potential of his newly arranged system… Keep up the great work Simon!!! And thank you for all the support over the last few years as well…

Taking out first place was Danny Zielin with his incredible system in the Bora… We spent quite a few hours in the lead up to the national finals trying to squeeze out every last bit of SQ’s that we could find, even trying to borrow some from the doors and placing them in the kick panels… We ended up finding them hiding in the A Pillars… Cheeky SQ’s…

In Show class we had Sara in SOJUCY, unfortunately she had left a lot of her display extras at home and her SOJUCY door pods were not finished but shall be finished for next season…

Sam in Tekken with his new Phoenix Gold set up… Sam was unable to finish his install on time but even in raw MDF the install still looked pretty cool and the etched glass with all its logos worked a treat…

Billy in his Subaru with an amazing effort… Billy had a great display set up with a display board, headless life-size Spartan complete with empty helmet… He had 3 large paintings reflecting a Spartan leading his men into battle, which we thought was fitting, considering the battle going on for a placing in show class… His display came ahead in leaps and bounds, great work to Billy and Pauline!

We also had Mario in MINTXM come in 3rd after finally amending the spelling mistake on his A Frame… Definitely an extra point deserved there!!! We missed out on theming the rest of his car in a 1960’s picnic set up but should have it complete by the start of next season…

David Bridges came in 1st place (of course)… His display keeps getting bigger and better and is constantly inspiring people to do more for show class… We love having our guys (and girls) up there… David and Adriana, we cannot thank you enough for all of your efforts, support and just all round awesomeness and thank you for believing in us as much as we believe in you guys… (with a tear in our eye) We love you guys!!!!

Receiving the prestigious Ainslee Duff Memorial Award this year was Callum Martin from SA… No one can say he didn’t deserve it with all of his work towards the cause!!! Congratulations Callum! A well deserved accolade…

We hope to see you all at the next season with plenty of new comers from the Phatt Phamily starting the new season too…

Thanks also goes out to the girls for putting up with all the sheet(s) that we give you at every round nonstop, like forever and ever… that is all… On a serious note though… The show wouldn’t run smoothly without you gals!

Last but not least a huge thank you to Marc and Ness Rushton for just everything! Mobile Electronics wouldn’t have a home in Australia if not for you and all you do for the community! Big hugs all round!

p.s. Michael, Lindsay, Simon and Wayne thanks for joining us for the convoy up and we hope to see all your cars finished and entered next year…

I can only echo my words to Mark French in saying thank you so much for not only your kind words, but also your continued support of MEASQ and MEA as a whole.
Team Phatt is IMO the largest retail based team competing in and supporting MEASQ nation wide to the best of my knowledge - and you guys know that for me personally I have always wanted to get to a level where retailers are bringing their teams to compete. The unfortunate part of my plans is there are not so many retailers in the Australian industry with the drive and passion for car audio and competition in particular that you and a small handful of our supporters possess, and even fewer with the skills and knowledge required to compete and do it successfully (no real breaking news here).

Continue your progression, building and expanding the team and I thank you for your support this season and for more to come.
