I am curious what people class as a enjoyable sound??

Too me pure sq as judged is enjoyable. That is why i go to mea comps.
Not trying to stir people up just don`t understand what some people think lacks in sq judging.

Back on topic for this one post..

Another favorite of mine was marc's nitro when he had the horns in a few years ago.... Really opened up my eyes (and ears) to horns, even tho they weren't installed 100% properly!!

Sorry to add to the Off topic bit..

1 - cabin gain & pressurisation/loading means BASS is easy and "big" in a car. (when same size driver/enclosure style/power is same Vs open air or reference room)

2 - as you drive road noise and rumble increases, thus you need to boost the bass to overcome it. (go for a drive with an RTA in the car if you don't beleive me)

...here's the issue. Reference systems, recording studios, live music doesn't have "road noise and rumble" to over come, bass is naturaly balanced and fun...
So in our cars how do we accurately replicate without having to boost the bottom end or then bring back to a balance when at stand still when being judged. Hence the two tunes, of a bass gain knob, or "b" option call it what you will.
But then isn't that just colouring the sound? Which is fun, but too much colour isn't as accurate? hmm... conundrum indeed :)

ps... i wrote bottom. teehee :D

Road EQ Syd! The Mazda's headunit has it from factory. It has a speed sensor input, and varies the response curve as speed increases. There are three settings as to how much effect is has and you can turn it off... I've found it to work extremely well even with the differences of an aftermarket system.

It's something I think all good daily SQ systems should have, but something that really isn't catered for in the aftermarket!

To keep it on topic, I'll extrapolate that to say I love big, brash dynamic sounding cars because they're the ones that often sound good even if you're on the highway at 110km/h...

Amen to that, my car has no sound deadening atm, but the system can go stupidly loud which overcomes any roadnoise. The horns in your face and 2 15's each side of you help a little though.

You also need to boost bass if it's cold. I keep my car outside and when i hop into it on a winter morning when it's 5ºC there is a distinct lack of bottom end until the car/speakers warm up.
