For those that aren't aware, in VIC for the past couple of years we had a committee that would meet regularly to discuss ideas and events from SQ/SPL competition, through to social events etc.

Unfortunately, due to busy lifestyles and changing priorities we've all managed to drop the ball a little in the last 18 months and have decided it's time to ramp it up again for 2012.

We're putting the call out for volunteers to put themselves forward for wanting to be involved in this committee. It involves a monthly meeting (usually a week night) over dinner somewhere central and of course small tasks that each of the committee members come away with from each meeting (from organising event trophies, picking up items from Bunnings for events, speaking to potential social meet venues (bowling, laser tag, accommodation for weekend getaways etc). It is not a lot of time to commit (generally only a few hours each month) but you must be dedicated, and willing to follow through.

This is open to all MEA VIC members, MEASQ Judges etc. We are looking to form a committee of 5-6 people and partners are most welcome to be involved both in the committee directly or as a tag along at the meetings and have their input. Existing committee members willing to step up and get involved again are also most welcome to volunteer themselves.

MEA[VIC] really needs to ramp up the organisational side of things. I have personally had to organise nearly everything for the actual MEASQ/BASS Battle competitions, and social organisation has been next to non-existent. I need help with organising events and liaising with host stores, and we need a few to come up with new ideas and organise new and exciting social events. The monthly social meet has lost its momentum and it's time to address that and come up with a new plan, along with further social activities.

If you have a love for car audio, MEA and socialising, have great organisational skills and ability to communicate with others, AND would like to get involved please let us know by replying to this thread. I suggest that the first committee meeting for 2012 with the members will be mid January.

Thanks in advance for your support and willingness to get involved and make a difference. :)

Guys,

As someone who has been an assistant state rep (ie pre the days of the committee) and someone who has had a stepped back role on the existing committee in recent times let me assure you guys that this is a really rewarding thing to be involved in.
I have a real passion for the social side of MEAVic and I think I really spilled my guts about that to the guys on the committee in recent times which I think in part is what has made all of us on the committee realise that we need to be getting some fresh faces and enthusiasm back into it. I personally would love to be more involved but due to things that have happened in the past few years in both my personal and work life I'm not able to dedicate the time I once could to MEAVic.
Some of my best friendships have come from MEAVic and I love to see the friendships that others have made through MEA.

Your involvement can be as simple as taking on the responsibility of organising a drive-ins night (by far one of the easiest things in the world to organise - if you can organise your mates to all meet at the pub you can organise a drive-ins night) right through to as Marc suggested scoping out places for accomodation for trips away, cruise routes, comp venues etc. None of if is real hard work it just needs someone to take a bit of responsibility and have a bit of passion for seeing it get done.

If you can spare the time and you have a passion for MEA do it! It really is a great group to be actively involved in!

Also I'd like to thank Marc and the other committee members for their support over the years and for letting me be involved where I could. Also thanks to you guys - the members / MEAVic for being a great community, for being friendly, supportive (especially through those real hard times a few years ago that really knocked us about), always helpful, always there for a laugh and a beer and for the friendships.
Couldnt ask for a better group to be involved in. Thanks guys!

Cheers,
Kirk

Just to clarify, Marc - this is an "events" committee, separate from the MEASQ committee (who would be more purely focussed on the rules, regs and growth of the national MEASQ competition format)?

To those who are considering volunteering for this events committee, it really does give you a great sense of involvement and personal satisfaction to be involved. As with some others before me, of late I really haven't been able to contribute as much as I had initially hoped due to increasing commitments outside of MEA, as well as being fairly remote and unable to attend regular mid-week meetings.
It will be great to get some 'new blood' into this role to help breathe new life and enthusiasm into the social scene of MEA-VIC.

Adam, there is no "MEASQ Committee" (there is an admin forum of judges and state organisers for that).

This is an "events" committee which will crossover between MEASQ/BASS Battle/Social Events.

I couldn't have said it any better, dude.

I shared this role in 2004-2006 and it was awesome. Needless to say, the social side of MEAVic was predominant back then. From what I've heard... even earlier was an even higher benchmark.

Put it back on the map, guys/girls. As Kirk also mentioned... circumstances have changed for me REAL quick as of recent and I'm actually pulling out of the industry altogether. I'll make the odd appearance here and there, but life goes on and priorities for me have now changed, hence my recent absense.

I do hope that the upcoming committee that IS finalised can bring about an even bigger social atmosphere for MEAVic.

What about a separate social events people to the MEASQ people?

it seems when they are doing both, the MEASQ gets all the attention and the social side gets neglected..
and, it seems what ever social event is organised, its just SQ people.. not 1000's of other members on the site?

hell, if that was the case, i would put my hand back up for it.
QUOTE (RMA @ Feb 6 2010, 01:22 AM) My only regrets are:
Selling Fudd an amp (for a fraction of the real price) that had been returned by Autobarn Geelong which had been incorrectly used by AB Geelong and turned out to be faulty when Fudd started using it.
Whilst he was given a new amp after it could not be fixed, he never acknowledged any of the assistance given and bitches to this day about it.
