For the benefit of Qld competitors, I'm opening up my place for two music sessions and some Test'n'Tunes.

We'll be playing the judging cd ( and others of course) on the home system (see my sig below) and if someone can bring along a mic and RTA unit, we'll have some quick RTA sessions for those also interested. A PC based system would be good so we can save each result and email it to the owner. Just a thought.
Power is no problem and any cars doing RTA will be under cover while they're being measured.

I'll also supply the bbq and some salad stuff - bring your own snags, steak, tofu, whatever, and drinks.
We can sit out on the deck and talk the usual talk.

Dates; 14th April and 7th July.
Start: 1pm - ish until not too late.

Private message me if you want to come and I'll let you know my address (I don't wish to publish it openly)

Originally posted post on the subject;

I'm thinking that a couple of music evenings and test'n'tunes are the go for next year.
These are a great opportunity to learn and understand what music sounds like on a decent system AND how to tweek their cars to get them sounding better. They're also great just for a yarn and a catch up.
I'm not sure if many people have had the opportunity to listen to a nice home system and how our test discs (when we know what it'll be) and other music sound on them.
I'm offering up my new place, big 6 burner bbq, and audio system to help out.
My system's not big but it's now sounding the best it has in a few years after some semi serious tuning and tweaks.
We could even have another at someone else's place if they're happy to volunteer later in the year. Otherwise, both at my place is just fine.
In conjunction with this, it's also appropriate that we step up the test'n'tune side of things as well to help us all share ideas and show each other how it's done in a less competitive format.
Maybe someone could volunteer an RTA for 15 minute RTA sessions perhaps? (yes, I know a good RTA can take much longer but at least a quick measure up can let us know major areas of concern from a balance point of view)
So, I'd like to know what you'd like in each.
How many of each for next year - 2 of each?
Have your say and we'll lock in some dates for them for next year's calendar.
Cheers,
Winno

Great initiative and a very generous offer to open your place and time up to QLD's members Winno. Hats off to you.
Don't miss this opportunity guys, apart from the great social aspects - further your knowledge and learn from your peers :)

Sure I'd be up for those sorts of things, even if I'm just helping out as my car will not be competing next year

So, two music nights, and two TnT's then?

Which day of the week is preferred - Saturday afternoons/evenings?

Oh, who's got an RTA we can use?

Power will hopefully not be an issue but that can depend on the venue for the TnT.
On that note, any ideas for a good TnT venue?
My place might be usable with two car garage and street parking. It's 15-20 mins west of the cbd.
Any other ideas though?

Right then, as soon as the Qld schedule is finalised and published, I'll let everyone know the dates for the music, and TnT afternoons.

Great idea. Saturdays are usually better but i will let majority decide the days. We have an RTA and Brad will be more then happy to help out. (even if he isn't i am volunteering him anyway :pp ) Of course my house is always open but our stereo system although good hasn't been tuned for a very long time. Steve i take it drinks after would be an idea also as a social thing!!!!

i would be keen to come along and maybe see what my stereo is capable of its not anything super special like alot of people here but i would like to know the basics of how to tune and stuff before i go and spend lots of money on stuff like new speakers. so i suppose the question is are newbies allowed?

Just a suggestion but we have a sound off on tomorrow night at Harry's Diner. There will be a lot more people on hand willing to have a listen to your car and give you some pointers. Especially if you're a first time competitor and jump in Novice as it would be free.

There will also be plenty of cars there to listen to and get ideas from.

As for coming to one of the test and tune days i'll let Winno field that question as it will be at his house.

I thought Harry's was just a spl comp and I'm not going to get anywhere in spl with my setup. I will turn up tomorrow what time does it start?

As Sam has said, it's probably in your best interests to rock on up to the event at Harry's.
Having said that, you're welcome to come around for the music/bbq sesh at my place as well.

Everyone, if you don't already know where in Fig Tree Pocket I live, private message me for my address, if you wish to come along.
