Team Challenge

I have been thinking about this for a little while and even think I mentioned it at some stage but have decided to officially throw it out there.
What are peoples thoughts on next year doing a MEASA team points challenge?
Here is my basic outline of the idea.
People who want to can join/form a team it doesn't matter if they have an SQ or an SPL set up because the challenge will be points based on where you finish in your comp.
During the year points are award for first, second and third place in each class at a comp and those points are added to the teams running total, then at the last event of the year the greatest team in history or at least for that year can be announced and given a free Milky Bar lol
To expand on the idea I think it could work with a point system somthing like.....
1st place in a class = 5pts
2nd place in a class =3pts
3rd place in a class =1pt
That way SQ and SPL people could all be a part of it without it being bias one way or the other,
it would also encourage people who are team spirited to maybe rock up to an event they might other wise have skipped, no one likes being ripped on by their mates for letting the team down lol
I also thought there should be no limit to the number of team members because it might encourage people to try and get more mates coming along to score some points for their team, but I also think the points should belong to the team and not the person because doing it that way if lets just say Santa has a falling out with a team mate he can't say "right FU I'm going to the other team so they can have my points and win"
Sooooooo good idea? bad idea? what does everyone else think?

especially having it over both SQ and SPL, i know the talk of teams has always been a big one on MEA, with team .inc, team Vanderrsexx, team LOLZ, team FCA, team Phatt, team big, team floorpods... the list goes on, so to include some form of team competition makes alot of sense, and will no doubt encourage some friendly team competition...
i like the way you've proposed having it based on finishing position, so it can be very even across the board, and simple,
i'm a big fan of this, and will definitely support it where i can! and i know bobo will LOVE this idea too haha

Can I create a team in ACT comp and be included?
Also can the same car compete in both SPL and SQ to accrue team points?
This sounds very exciting and gives us a national rivalry before nationals. I like it.

I think teams need to be more than just meeting up at the comps. You need to have test and tunes together, help each other with builds, equipment etc.

I can't see why doing it as a national comp wouldn't work though I had only pictured SA, maybe do it as a state thing but if you really wanted it to be national you could take the top five peoples points from a team and then compere them over the country to find the winning team in Australia?
Letting people enter both SQ and SPL is a good idea I think because that way you might get some people crossing over and doing both styles to help their team get some more points? this will of course mean SQ might get a couple more cars entering events and vise versa for SPL.
Organising it would not be to much drama, as far as I can see all it would take is someone gathering peoples names and which team they are in at the first comp of the year and building a simple database.
Once the database is made its just a matter of updating the points after each comp and maybe from time to time adding a person to a team.

now it just needs the powers that be in MEASA to confirm it should happen and then someone to put their hand up to run it.
If this was to take off as an idea maybe MEA could sponsor a perpetual "Champion Team" trophy, or for that matter you could get a company to sponsor it and call it the " BRAND X team championship challenge" or somthing like that.....

A few rules would be that if you change teams you cant take your points with you, but you can get new points for your new team.
The team your in must be announced before the comp.
Teams can consist of as many members as you like but they must have some form of collaboration, be it sharing tips and tricks to helping build and design installs. (Interstate teams allowable)
This is just a fun and easy way to get some comradery going within MEA nationally and provide extra oppurtunities to recruit people.
What do you guys think?
