My JL Amps are screwed to the metal seat backs.

works fine.

depends on the amps if they are isolated or common ground.

you can check with an ohm meter, if there's any connection from the chassis of the amplifier to any electrical connections of the terminals.

if the reading changes from "open circuit" to any other value, then you may have a problem.
