Well my Subaru Liberty Wagon has a pretty piss poor battery in the front and my 110ah deep cycle will no way in hell fit where the old battery was. So I planned putting it in the back next to my amps, but from what I hear the batteries have to be in a sealed box or something? From what I was reading on vicroads, well all I could find on vicroads was "Battery must be secured properly" but it wasn't saying anything about added batteries or anything. So yeah anyway what do you guys think? I don't wana start installing only to find it makes my car unroadworthy.

What battery is it? My deep cycle is completely sealed so it doesn't need a battery box as there is no release of fumes.

Even sealed batteries are techincally supposed to be vented to atmosphere.

I just bought a battery box anyway, seems stupid if you actually need one for it to be legal because they are vented anyway. Oh well it helps hold it in place better anyway.

The battery box is not so much to contain the fumes, its to contain the liquid (where the battery is not sealed) in the event of a roll over scenario.

Even in BMW or holder, the battery is just under the false floor cover,

the vent to atmosphere is for the H2 gas emitted during charging. not a big problem on modern sealed batteries.
