Now that this campaign had had some time to sink in, and (possibly) copped a little extra exposure from the healthy dscussion in this thread, lets open the lines up for feedback on what really matters... ...return on the leads generated.
Has Alpine's descent into "rugs'a'million" style marketing paid off? Would love to hear from people with some of this product wrapped and waiting under the Xmas tree?
Also, any of the retailers out there encountered an Ogier? how did it pan out? was an Alpine sale possible after the marketing approach was somehow misinterperated and caused offense?
<rant class="drunken">
After all, this is the 'audiophile' range of Alpine product - "high end" items for car audio connoisseurs, the target market (i.e willing to drop 1k on some splits) are educated individuals with a high expendable income - or - young impressionable males with no responsibilities, burning up a new found income and impressing their mates, no? How has this approach helped shake the Lexus of car audio stigma agaignst the competing alfa romeo'esque brands aka audison, dls & morel that are "so hot right now" and provide maximum scene cred?
When trying to move this particular product, isn't exclusivity and/or rarity a higher selling point than % $ saved? Or has this market been totally screwed by grey imports and eBay?
How will Alpine break out of the "I like their old stuff better than their new stuff" pidgeon hole and regain title as a car audio super power? More clever marketing I hope!
