Also by "spl" i mean like, how much you will FEEL the bass and loudness to the ear i guess. not too concerned about the numbers it pulls.

in my opinion if u wanna wall it do it....but dont go straight to 18z try out 12z and 15z and take it from there u will have more fun FEEL wise depending on the build obviously....u can still have decent drop in box if ya want though being a wagon

Practice with small things and learn to do it right. Farking up when designing a small box isn't so much of a drama, and you will do it. When you build large boxes or walls, it gets expensive because you'll never get it right the first time around.
