Hey everyone,

Recently I had a Premium ICC video-in kit installed by ASL Media so I could use my Galaxy S2 Android phone to send video to the stock screen on my 2010 FG G6E Turbo.

Apart from them taking an hour longer than the 45 mins they told me it was going to take to install and the fact that it only came with RCA's (thought it would be 3.5mm jack) to plug into my phone- I was pretty happy to finally get it done. That was, until I found out that my phone doesn't actually work with it! The video out on the phone is via the Micro USB port, not the 3.5mm jack that I thought/anticipated. ASL said it should work with the S2, but I think they cared more about getting paid.

I was wondering what you guys would recommend me doing to fix this. I have thought up a couple options~>

A) Micro USB >> HDMI Cable >> RCA

B) Micro USB >> 3.5mm in >> 3.5mm out >> RCA

C) Buy another cheap Android phone to run the Torque App full time that uses 3.5mm video out >> RCA

Are the 3.5mm jacks guaranteed to support the video signal?

Anyone else got any better ideas??

Check this out mate. You will need to pull apart your ICC to fit a touch screen overlay, but I think this is awesome

I also did a bit more research and found that the video output of the Galaxy S2 is MHL/HDMI..... isn't that a digital signal? Will that still work on the NTSC/composite screen in the FG's without some bulky converter??

This is turning into a NIGHTMARE!

hey mate, I work in AV and to convert a hdmi to a composite signal is possible. You will however need a selection of cables and a converter box, which you can pick up on ebay or from altronics.
They are usually 5 or 12v powered so you will need to get a converter unit, which is easy to find as there are cigarette lighter models with selectable voltage. You can install a hidden socked under your dash somewhere. you will then need to hide all the equipment. What does your phone display on the screen just out of interest?

for example:

plus a power supply for it:

This is a USB reader and plays video now i am not sure if this will work but call Leigh on 1300 046 227 and ask him if you can plug your S2 into the USB and get it to play movies.

I know it won't work with Iphone.

Warren.

I am thinking to run one of these in my BF instead of the DVD player as most my movies are on a hard drive.
