Clarion HX-D3 - new 2012 model
I only have limited info, mainly as I really don't like these HX-D2/3 units, but cosmetically its very pretty. Specs seem exactly the same as the HX-D2, but if you're one of the few that love them perhaps an update might be in order?

I cannot find much info on the net about them, they are popping up on ebay.

Interesting. Everything I heard about a HX-D3 was that it was fake. Very interesting.
Audison Thesis head unit I was led to believe would supersede the HX-D2.

It apparently was unvailed at CES.
"The Clarion HXD3 is the new version with modification and sound improvement, the main differents were, it uses more advanced 24 bit cpu / ic (inside parts) which can produce more clear and high sound performance. The display panel colors and design are different to fit customer's need. This is a special edition with limited production due to Japan manufacturing plants slow down their supplies. The Clarion HXD3 quality is the same grading as Mcintosh MX-5000."

Faceplate tooling looks the same:

And Damo does make a good point. CES has not started yet :)

Seems I screwed up the dates, I thought CES was on at present. This was what happens after 3 weeks holiday with no internet. *shrugs* Meh :)

It starts in a few days time, so that should be "Its apparently *meant* to be unvailed at CES

I need to go back into holiday mode - luckily Chris Jones - Roadhouses & Automobiles - is on repeat

Interesting... Theres some more on it here: http://www.diymobile...rion-hx-d3.html

Seems a bit of an anti-climax though? You would have thought with all the talk of the latest "SQ" head units and processors, there'd be a bit more hype around the HXD3 than an eBay auction and a slightly revised face/internals.

Who knows. Shall be interesting to follow the developments and see what CES brings...

I think Pioneer P99 is the benchmark at the moment anyway, personally?

Have seen these floating around on eBay for a while.
At first I thought it was a fake, someone had just slapped a "HX-D3" badge on the front, but maybe it is just a "special edition" from Clarion Japan to spark interest in the unit again before they actually release the real Thesis/HX-D3 (or D4?) unit...

Either way, it brings absolutely nothing new to plate from the 10 year old HX-D2. Very disappointing.

I still dream of the day Pioneer launch the ODR brand again. That would be the only Pioneer unit I would truly crave.

They were beautiful. But it needs to be current, mp3, iPhone connectivity etc.

I know, bring it on I say.

If it looks as good as the old one and has all the features it needs to compete, I want it ;)
