What the hell?? From what I can read and understand on the pdf....you need to have the IMPRINT microphone (which is "optional" !) to be able to adjust the bass and treble?? Is this right??
Surely it cant be like this. Its a top of the range, competition deck. A $50 kmart deck can adjust bass/treble without any hassles. Surely I dont have to hook up a microphone just to do this?
This Alpine is so overly complicated and difficult to use and understand, I can tell you. Nothing is straight forward or simple, like it should be

Well, you bought a competition-quality model capable of a lot, so you can't expect it to be very simple! :pp

But really, once you get use to Alpine's interface and menus, they become second nature to use. Give yourself time to learn.

From what I can gather, there should be a 7-band graphic EQ you can access (or 5-band parametric). More elaborate than just a bass/treble (2-band) adjustment. I doubt you need the mic to access these settings, but I have not played with a D800 or read the manual to be sure. I'll have a look when I have a chance.

So, from a quick browse of the manual, I think you should be able to access bass/treble without having the Imprint module. The latter is required for the 7-band GEQ/5-band PEQ.

Do you have the headunit up and running to actually try this out?

The unit is functionally the same as the IVA-D511E, and almost the same as IVA-W502

It has Bass/Treble adjustment, with adjustable Frequency and Q for each.

You only need to miscorphone if you intend to use the automated tuning functions - which IMO never arrives at a great result. Tune it manually and use your ears and or an RTA.

I Am running a d800 with a h800 processor. Unsure how you are running it but all my controls except for fader, balance and sub level, all are controlled via the processor.

are you running a processor or straight from headunit to amps?

Cheers for the replies guys. Im working away and dont have too much time up my sleeve.
I've been using the D800 and bypassing the H800 as I cant get it to put out any signal. I dont know whats wrong with it. It lights up, but nothing happens.
Ive connected the cable from the deck to the H800 and the RCA's from the deck to the H800, then out to the two amps. No signal gets to the amps whatsoever.
I dont know if its faulty or something is being missed by me, but seriously, it couldnt BE any simpler to wire. I highly doubt, being an electrician, that Ive stuffed it up....

Im wondering if its something with the programming? I have the RU-C800 (processor controller) too.

Surely I should be able to access the graphic EQ simply through the screen/buttons?? I cant find it anywhere. Nothing simple about it to me at all. Terrible software to me

How do you access that though mate? Do you need to have the handbrake on? I havent connected the handbrake earth cable. I've just left it open circuited

not sure why you have connected ainet and RCAs, you only need the ainet cable, although with a D800 I would be using optical personally (which still requires the ainet)
have you run the H800 through the setup process on a laptop?
you cannot make any adjustments to the H800 (other than balance and fader) via the headunit, these must be done via the RUX or via the laptop software

As above, there should be no RCAs connected between the D800 and H800.

I presume you've set the switches on the side o the D800 to 'EQ/DIV' instead of 'NORM'. This swap the mode of the D800 to recognise and communicate/control with the H800. Then all commands/audio signals feed via the Ai-NET cable.

As mentioned, the H800 needs to be appropriately programmed via the RUX or PC for speaker/system design. The setup procedure may seem a little complex at first, but these are all 'set and forget' procedures.

100% Correct.

From the D800 to the H800.
All I have running is An Optical cable, Ainet Cable, and for the NAv I have 1 guide wire and 1 RCA.

I Prefer using the laptop to setup but it is still easily done with the Rux. Just persist and you will get there.
