Hi guys,
I have a Mongoose alarm fitted to my car. My paperwork is at home but from memory it is an M80.
In the past month it has started to going off from time to time when i turn the engine on...
- the car is unlocked (alarm disarmed)
- turn key to accessories ok
- as soon as i start engine the siren will sound.
- engine still runs. In fact I can drive the car around with the siren going so it isnt imobilised
I have noticed it happens more often than not when the car is park outside, and being summer in QLD I relate this to heat... no problems the past few days when it has been overcast and raining but today with the sun out again it went off when i started the engine.
The alarm does not sound on its own while left outside in the heat - only when engine is running.
A solution I found at the start was to turn the car off, get out, lock the doors and come back 15 mins later. Starting the engine again was fine with no alarm going off and I could drive for however far i wanted with no problems.
Today when it went off I came back 15 mins later - started engine and siren went off. Left it another 15 mins - same. 30 mins - same. 2 hours - same. 1 hour again - same. And now I'm here. Lucky i don't have to be anywhere urgent but its a bit of a pain and I obviously don't want to drive it to the auto electrician with the siren going off.
Any ideas on what might be the trigger of this and a solution?
Has anyone had this problem before?
Cheers, Nodge.
