Hi everyone, i've just put a system in my xf ute and i have a real bad engine / electrical noise coming through my speakers and sub, i have the usual high pitch whine which isn't that bad almost can'e even hear it, but every 10 seconds or so (it's a bit eratic) i get this pop sound through the speakers and sub, i've put stinger sgn20 ground loop isolators on both sets of rca's thinking that this would solve my problem but the popping noise still happens and I can't work it out, everything in the car is new even down to the remote wire!! i've ran the rca cables under the console (its a ute) the battery is under the tray in the back the amps are earthed to the same point as the earth from the battery, the earth cables are roughly 1m long, i've re run the constant power for the head unit and earthed the unit to the chassis of the car and this noise just wont go away............

this is what I have in the car,
pioneer deh9350sd
pioneer tsd1720 splits x2 each door
pioneer pioneer gmd9500f 4 channel running splits
kicker kx2500.1 mono block
kicker L7 solobaric 15 inch sub
kicker rca cables cant remember what series but $60 each (5m ones)
and thats about it

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure about the pop noise but you may have blown the pico fuses in your pioneer HU (alternator whine noise) - do a search for 'pico fuse'.
Are all your cables insulated where they go through panels with grommets? Terminals of speakers not shorting out against any metal?

Here a list of basic things to check, similar to above.

1. Make sure NON of the amps are touching metal in anyway, even through the screws that you mounted them with.
2. Did you upgrade the ground wire in your engine bay (the one that goes from your body/engine)? This should be of equal size and your amps ground.
3. There is a chance that you have a blown the notorious 'pico' fuse in your pioneer headunit, search that you will get plenty of answers
4. There is a chance one of your speaker terminals may be touching metal, cuasing shorts etc.
5. There is a chance you may have nicked/cut a wire whilst installing, touching metal, causing shorts etc.

only thing i forgot to mention was that this problem only happens when the car is runing, as soon as i turn the car off the noises stop, so obviously the engine noise stops but just wondering if this pico fuse thing will stop making noise aswell??

The noise is 'alternator whine' which is why you can only hear the buzzing high pitched noise while the car is running. If you do a search on pico fuses you should find plenty of info on how to rectify that (even if it means sending the HU back to pioneer for replacement of them).

Can you recall wether you swapped or unplugged your RCA leads on your amps while everything was powered on at any stage[hot swapping] because this is the no 1 cause for blowing the pico fuse on Pioneer H/Units

This sometimes cures the pico fuse issue as seen in this recent thread: http://www.mobileele...15#entry1283292
(pic on 2nd page - do at your own risk)
