Hey Guys

I have a 04 barina, xc model, and I am putting in a nice sound system for the wife. couple of 10 inch subs, and some splits run off a couple of amp I have lying around. I am also going to be using a Hi/Lo converter of the stock head unit, which i should upgrade in the future.

I am just starting wiring the power cable and I have had a look and can't find any decent grommets in the firewall that will fit a 0 gague cable through it. The only place I can see is to go into the front guard and then come out in the kick panel.

Is this the best place to run the power wire for the barina?

also i'm noticeing there is not alot of room for the 0 gague wire the whole way from the kick panel to the boot. does any one have any tricks to make extra space for bigger cableing? There is square plastic cable holder tubes from front to back with factory wiring, would it matter if I removed cable holders and just used cable ties to hold the wiring in place? This would make just enough space to run the cable.

Cheers, Grant

It's no fun. You can drill a hole in the metal to the left of where the ECU and main body loom enter the car behind the battery. The windscreen cowling needs to come off to get the battery out first.

Others cut into the plastic housing that the loom runs through but either way it's squeezy, you'll need a grommet, and it's hard to pull into the car from under the dash. But you'll get there!

Ok so what I done was started in the passenger kick panel, (there is a grommet there for the speaker wires and etc to go into the door) cut a hole in the grommet to fit the 0 gague through then on the outside where the door bolts on there is a blank grommet closer to the front of the car. I pulled this grommet out and routed the cable through there. this was the tight part as the 2 grommets didn't line up and it was double skinned. after that i cut out the centre of the removed grommet and fitted it back over the cable. after this i ran the cable through the tyre guard between the frame of the car and the plastic covers on the guard. Finally I run the cable up through a grommet on the frame and then through another grommet that comes out next to the battery.

I also ran the cable in the cable holders to the back of the car. It just fit in with the stock wiring for the lights and such. (was a very tight fit)
I'll post some pictures of what I done later in the week.

now that the majority of the wiring is done, the next step is to build the sub box and amp rack, going to paint the sub box which wll be my first attempt at spray painting. I might start a build topic if I get enough pictures.

Cheers Grant
