i'm using 2x Nakamichi 2x 150rms amps in one of my cars, and i really do love them to bits...

but i will say that these are definitely not the same nak amps as alot would remember, they are at a MUCH lower price point, and the quality reflects this, i would say that they'e definitely punching WELL above their weight, but not comparable to nak amps of old

that being said, i really REALLY love mine, they're nice and solid, with a bit of weight to them, and pack a nice punch!

Apparently the higher (PL?) series amplifiers with the complete adjustable cross overs are a very good amplifier in their price range, you can get 4x100wrms at 4ohm for $260, pretty crazy. I think the same electronics company which owns Aerpro bought the rights for Nakamichi Australasia, can't remember their name.

That's the one, thanks. I can't confirm though, just what a shop told me.

100% correct...

much like alot of the products that come from the parent company, these amps are aimed towards excellent value for money, not so much your high end stuff, but very much your "punching above it's weight" kinda stuff... personally i'd put the nak amps in the same league as your Jaycar gear, but a slightly better product, and with much better backing...

it's just a shame Nak don't have anything like a 1500rms mono otherwise i'd snap one up for random installs... :(

PM14001 - 1400wrms @ 1ohm :) .. By the way, how much did those slightly older Jaycar 1000wrms mono's sell for, when new?

HA!!i didn't even know about that thing, thought there was only the 400rms mono... well i'll be damned! looks like i may have to grab one at some point... i like having amps sitting around for sh*ts and giggles... you never know when you're going to need a mono, whether it be to replace one thats let go, or new car etc,

the buyers are getting younger which means they have very minimal spare cash to spend of quality products or installs for that matter.
i've been installing since the early 90's and i've seen the industry take a nose dive ever since. today its what speakers, what head unit, what sub, what amp and the poor old car has been forgotten about so when the system doesn't perform the owner is usually quick to blame the product rather than the installation of the installations environment.

edit: oh, and there's an expert that's born every day that joins a forum and knows it all ;)

It is always a mystery when you have been following the car audio industry for a while to see some reputable brand dissappear and re-appear some time later. For some reason, I am always skeptical about buying the new products, but then we are talking about 10 - 20 year difference in time. (showing my age here!)

Its always good to hear other members buying and trying the stuff out and reporting on their experiences with the items. Good on you champs!!!
