I still have this head unit after removing it from my xt forester, it won't go in my BF2 Fairmont Ghia V8.
So.....
Should I keep it and stick it in my 85 rx7 or sell it on eBay and use the money to buy something new?
Double din doesn't go that well in a little rx7, a flip out would be better.
i love the features the hd3 has, especially the G meter, don't know if any new units have this feature.
but the hard drive could be easily outdone by iPhone connectivity or a USB input
The navigation was decent but there is not vss wire in the rx7 (cable speedo) so I don't think it would work properly
I know I'm not going to get anywhere near what it cost new but I'm pretty sure I could get something awsom for a lot less these days.

I love mine ! No new ones have the HDD even though they start up quicker. The HD3 retailed for $3799 even though you can get a new one off Pioneer for about $1000 now.
I say keep it.........

I think you have to ask what you would get for it. Have a look on ebay, there are a couple for sale that look like they are going to be sold for around the $300 mark.
For that price I'd keep it.

The car : 1999 WRX
Pioneer DEHP7050BT

minidsp
MB Quartl Fronts
Kenwood amps
Kenwood Sub.
Does the job for now. Build in progress.

Can be a tough decision. In my personal experience, I have 'kept' quite a bit of car audio over the years because I've been put off by the low secondhand market prices I was going to fetch. Predictably, I've never reused the gear, and it's only losing value and getting outdated.

Not a big deal to me in the end, but honestly, I should have sold a lot of stuff much earlier.

So unless you have immediate plans to use it, I recommend selling and cut your losses. In another year or two, it'll be well-outdated and a chance of being absolutely no value to anyone.

I dont think you would have issues selling most your stuff considering the quality and the way you treat it............ :-)

I wasn't that impressed with the HDD and the track naming was is tedious..
There are some for sale on eBay, I'll see what they go for and probably sell it..
Not really suited to the rx7.

If anyone wants it I'm open to offers, only used it for about 3 months.. Then back in the box when the forested went..

most nav's dont really need the vss wire to be connected. it just helps the unit to calculate position is gps signal is lost for a few seconds.

I think the wire they are referring to is the one that senses the cars speed for the vehicle dynamics processor. My AVH-6850 needed it as well when I added the VDP-1 and it doesnt have a GPS as such.
I am certain that wire has nothing to do with positioning as it connects to the cars speed sender unit.

Yea, it works the vehicle dynamics stuff, but also assists the nav if you loose gps signal, like if your in the m5 tunnel it still knows where you are. And will tell you the right exit.

One sold on eBay this morning for $630.
I'd let mine go for that price if anyone is interested.
