Are these 'brand new' subs or what? Return the broken one?

The subs are in perfect condition it's just the decorative punch ring around the outside that's broken. I'll either glue it back together or just try to find a new one on eBay.

Ok so I'm still undecided on which amp to buy. Tossing up between the

500w Power amp ($350) or the 1000w power amp ($500)

My aim is a SQ system.

what is the difference between having 500w in a sub and 800w in a sub is it just the volume it can reach? or is it also the quallity?
Am I right in assuming that in an SQ system the bass will be lower than it would be in an SPL sytem so the 500w would be plenty? or would it still be better to go for the 800w and why?
