Is there much of a difference between these to head units?

Alpine http://www.alpine.co....php?item_id=47

vs

JVC http://www.jvc.com.a...-units/kw-xr816

I can get the JVC for $250 while the Alpine is $500.

The speakers will be Focal 165V30 running off a SOLID 2 amp and a Focal BUS 25 subwoofer under the front seat.

I'm after nice, clean, punchy sound.

From a sound quality point of view, I don't think you'll notice an obvious difference; or at least, they could be slightly different, but both good.

The obviously difference in features from browsing the specs are inbuilt BT in the JVC, and 3 preouts. Alpine only has 1 set of preouts.

Seems a pretty clear cut choice mate.
