Free 89 Nissan Patrol

Picked up a free 89 Nissan Patrol the other week off a family friend who no longer has a need for the car, is in great condition and runs like a treat. My wife and I have only had one car for a couple of years (which I maybe drive a couple of times a week max) so I haven't really worried too much about getting a proper stereo.
The patrol currently has the stock radio and tape deck installed in it so I am looking at starting to install the stereo myself, don't really want to spend a heap of money straight up so I am probably looking at a budget of $500 to $750 (have some room to move if needed) but I will be adding components as I get extra cash and the car proves to be reliable.
I am going to try and buy some of my components off gumtree to save some $$
Head Unit - Something with USB and BT, pretty condident picking one out so probably don't need recommendations for this. - $200 to $300ish
Front Speakers - Morel Maximo 6.5" (pretty set on these as seems to be general consensus) - $230 ish
Back Speakers - This is where the line becomes a bit blurred, obviously this is a big car - do I worry about putting in a pair of 6x9's or another set of 6.5" or not worry about it at all for now and pick up a cheap amp and sub off gumtree instead? - $200 to $300ish
+ extra for cabling etc...
If anybody can help with a recommendation of which was to proceed with the back I would much appreciate it!
Thanks for you time.

My number one reccomendation would be to take things slow, rather than trying to find cheap equipment and then upgrading later as in the long run it works out alot cheaper.
The maximos are a great budget speaker that sound alot better than theyre price suggests
Then as funds allow i would look into a half decent 4 channel amp and wiring to suit. Would you be looking at a subwoofer down the track too or just speakers?

Speakers are fairly easy however I haven't really had much experience with amp's.
From my understanding you would run your front and back speakers off a 4 channel amp and then have a separate amp for the sub?
Any recommendations for a reasonably priced amp? As I said I have a bit of room to breath so if I find something within budget I may pick it up as well. There does seem to be heaps of Amp's and subs on gumtree so if I find what looks like a good deal (usually involves me googling the item to make sure it isn't 100 years old) I might pick it up too.

as far as reccomendations, we really need to know your actual budget on just an amp itself

There are quite a few on gumtree e.g.

http://perth.gumtree...QAdIdZ359622258
http://perth.gumtree...QAdIdZ347926638
I would obviously research the model itself a bit more (e.g. retail price, how old it is etc) as I think a few of those might be bit overpriced. I suppose the other option to buy one models that Jaycar supply which look fairly affordable.
If I go down this path I would probably look at running the 6" and the 12" sub off the amp, how many watts would I be safe with? Obviously there are some factors I think like how powerful the sub is but I don't think I will be going for anything too overpowering.

I am guessing the amp listed is just for the sub - so it doesn't need another amp?
Or would it be better just to grab something like this to run the fronts and the sub off - http://jaycar.com.au...SUBCATID=1028#4 ?

This is a pretty solid price for a HU and does everything you want but they will sell fairly quickly and I am not 100% sure if warranty will be with Pioneer Australia.

Throwin it out there - you can pick up a steg 6-channel brand new from the AMPL audio guys (forum sponsors on here) for $300 on clearance at th moment. They're brand new rumour stock, $650 Italian amps, you can run front, rears and a sub off that amp...

Awesome, have popped the guys from AMPL an email and will see what shipping is like to WA. I think that would be a good investment in my price range, as it would allow me to add back speakers if I need to without another amp.
So this is the plan of attach to get my started
Head Unit - JVC KD-BTP52 http://www.jbhifi.co...uner-sku-70752/
Front Speakers - Morel Maximo 6
Amp - http://jaycar.com.au...SUBCATID=1028#4 or if all goes well a Steg 6 channel amp from the AMPL guys - both are $300
Total - about $730 + cabling
