time alignement would be a nice feature to have
unless you put the other decks with say BBS or RANE processors or maybe a pxa-h701 alpine you can not get time alignment feature. I think when used correctly the time-alignment can be amazing.
as far as features go there are not too many car audio products that can match the alpine f1 but you pay for this with your wallet.

I believe it is hard to conclusively say HU A is better than HU B for high end car audio HUs. To me, HU is just a source unit to spin the disc and pass on the signal, included features and functions is a different ball game all together.
CD700II beating the F1? Sweet
My pre-amp consist of a Nak TP1200 with a Nak dac 100, TDB LD2 and a Xtant P500. Would love to try the Pioneer P9 combo or the Alpine F1 status (but too dear) and see the difference between analog and digital.
If I were you, I will stick with the Denon.
My 2 cents.

i think all these hi end HUs have their own unqiue characterics n features, some might sound more open in the mid fq or high fq watever......not too sure....never tried the DCT1 be4....wats the diff between this n the z1....i tired the z1 be4 and i must admit is a very impressive HU i might add. But at wat price...i think if u search on the uk forums.....there were some tests carried out for HUs too..and the CD700ii beat the f1 as well.

If the installation score is similar, the person who use the F1 must don't know how to make use of the unit. it is very EZ to have bad sound with F1 if you don't actually know what you are doing. CD 700II is a very good old skool deck that I have in my collection too. the best of all oldskool deck is still Alpine 7909J.

I'm sticking with Analog headunit than one with x-over, EQ, time allignment and all those fancy stuffs... IMHO, analog is more live and more natural...
I was quite surprise with that news tho... CD700II beats F#1... however the Nak is combined with PXA-H701... coz there is no way to win IASCA competition without sound processor... unless in EMMA competition... but i have to admit that the F#1 is an awesome unit... the only headunit that is capable to beat its feature is Pioneer ODR D7R if i wasn't wrong... i heard that it has more feature than any headunits in the market...

I have to agree that the IASCA competition has lots of rules... definitely need to buy the IASCA bible and read it before starting the installation... the headunit has to be at the same height with your chest... the cables are not allowed to be displayed... etc etc... very confusing tho... a friend of mine is working on the DLS car in a mini van with the custom dashboard according the the IASCA bible...

I mean the SQ. the HU look ugly like hell. SQ wise I only did a compparison between 7990, 7909, D1, D2, CD700II, DCT1, RSD7X. Well I have to admit that 7909 have a valve like sort of sound but the detail on the top end is a bit dull.
Alpine new F1 is a better sounding HU than RSD7XII gut it have inbuilt premature noise gate. that alone will cost you 5 pionts in IASCA. inside the powersupply have relay or something. it make a bit of relay click. This again 3 pionts off in IASCA. But I am not competing everyday. I don't really care about that 8 pionts la with that 8 pionts off I still manage to get 335.5 pionts in IASCA in Thailand. The second place got 305 points. yes it beat the champ of both sterrt pro and street X from the same event.
Pioneer RSD7XII have a much better SN property than alpine. alpine sound a bit warmer and a bit colored in the vocal range. Pioneer is more fathful to the original and to me sound a bit lifeless + too flat.
