When installing the new Headunit today I couldn't get in to mount properly because the RCAs are hitting on the heater box...stopping the unit from going all the way in.

Is there anything I can do or do I just need to buy different RCAs

You can buy right angle RCA adaptors from stinger or from jaycar (gold plated ones) - might give enough room

I'm guessing this is a VN-VS Commodore? (This sort of information always helps.)

If things get dire, some people have heated and slightly re-shaped their heater box to make room for the RCAs. Your experience may differ but if it ain't fitting, it ain't fitting.

Good guess :-) VN

I'll try the right angle connectors before I get into any demolishing

When I had my VP Commodore, I did not have to use RA adapters. My RCAs were short body Stinger brand, model SPI4317. From end of tip to where the cable comes out is ~37mm. My headunit (CDA-9857r) did stick out on the passenger's side about 3mm. Nothing I was concerned about, but it may be different in your case.

Some RCAs (eg: some Aerpro ones) have right-angle heads/terminals on them already. These might end up 'shallower' then using right-angle pieces, but see how you go.

:)

I bought a Pro Linear wiring kit from Repco last week that comes with two sets of right angled RCAs(one end right angle, other end straight), it was only $30 for the 8ga kit and was cheaper than getting the RCAs separately.

I found 1 RCA lead I had lying around that just clears and I mean just I have to push to screw it in but but it's angled I should be right I'm going to take them around tomorrow and see what I can find...

Also give my installer mick at riverside a call and see if he has anything

This is starting to get really annoying...

Does quality really vary heaps between brands?

I had to use Aerpro originally, but the small Stinger ones (mentioned above) fitted with a bit of encouragement.

Alternatively, get a new H/U that has the RCAs on flying leads.
