2 ARC 12's VS 1 IDMAX?

We have already put down a deposit on some gear. However i have come to re-think a little.
My question is, Would 1 IDMAX sound better then 2 ARC 12's in a VE sedan?
1 ARC 12 is rated at 350 rms and a 1 IDMAX is rated at 1000 rms.
We are running 1200 watts to the pair of ARC 12's but if we went with 1 IDMAX sub and ran the same power would it sound better?
I only ask because I know the IDMAX12 has such a great reputation.
Thanks guys

all comes down to what you have available in terms of volume/install limitations as well as output requirements.

You are not comparing apples with apples.. if all you want is louder, then 2 subs of just about any kind will be more-so than any single sub.
If you want proper SQ and you have the necessary equipment within the system, then 2 subs can be made to work
You need to get out and listen to these subs to be able to make the decision based on what you hear and prefer.

The rated power handling of each sub will tell you nothing about whether one will sound "better" than the other. Not to mention that sounding "better" is entirely subjective.
I would hazard a guess that all things being equal, the 2x Arcs would be louder than 1x IDMAX - just. The IDMAX does have a lot of excursion potential.
If the subs were in ideal boxes, and gains/crossovers/EQ were all set for optimal performance, I think you would seriously struggle to tell the Arcs from an IDMAX. However, one set-up might be easier to 'get right' than the other.
