When it comes to Japanese multimedia behemoth Pioneer, it's not afraid to swap and change its stable around to gain an advantage over the opposition. Therefore when the highly successful AVIC-F20BT reached the end of its run in Australia and was replaced by the AVIC-F30BT, Pioneer discovered that despite the new unit possessing small improvements all round, the competition was starting to inch ahead. So taking a line from Sir Topham Hatt's hymn book minus the cockney accent; it blurted "that'll never do!" Jovialness aside; Pioneer has just handed down the tech specifications for what is the best AVIC multimedia unit to date; the stunning new AVIC-F40BT.

While the feature list itself is not enormous, once you begin exploring each ability further you find they're far more advanced than other decks of this genre. There's the DVD player which can play just about every format you'd desire. The navigation includes Suna traffic updates and is extremely accurate thanks to a multi-sensor system. There is parrot blue-tooth built in and even interfacing with an iPhone via an app. Naturally inputs and outputs are in abundance and image and sound quality is superb. There is a whole swag of ancillary features too but rather than me run through them all here you probably ought to just download the spec sheet:

The current Australian retail price is $1999 and for further information please feel free to email us. TThe AVIC-F40BT will be available in Australia in a few weeks.

That looks tops Marty. Might have to stick one in the replacement car. Do we have a release date?
