The sub enclosure I have built for my BMW is quite small, roughly .5 cubic foot, sealed. It was designed to fit the space, rather than for output. I will be using a Clarion PA-12S on about 250 watts rms, inverted for more internal volume. The question is, will stuffing the box with Dacron or similar make a real difference?
I plan to try it with and without and see for myself, just interested in opinions as I have read plenty of fors and againsts.

Dacron stuffing can theoretically make the enclosure seem about 25% larger than it actually is. So for a 0.5cuft enclosure, adding dacron will only give an 'increase' of 0.125cuft, so the box would appear (to the sub) to be 0.625cuft.
Not a massive difference, but if it costs you nothing to try, why not!

I'd stuff it densely, as long as you have some way of preventing it hitting the inverted cone.

I'd stuff it too, any extra help you can get in an enclosure that is less than optimal will help.

stuff it, but don't let the stuffing touch the cone - as already suggested.

A cubic foot? I don't think so old mate...

Sorry to be the bringer of woe but I don't think this enclosure solution is going to end well - dacron or no dacron. Its a very small box fitted with a subwoofer with very modest output potential powered by a low amount of power in a very solid car. Don't get your hopes up is all I'm saying.

Haha, I know. Not expecting too much from it, built it more as a trial of fibreglassing technique than anything else. Looks awesome, sounds ordinary. 's ok though, already planning version 2.0. Earthquake dbxi 15 in 2.5 cubic foot box driven by an alpine pdx 4.150. And Blaupunkt Velocity 6.5's front stage.

Rather than stuffng it, perhaps try an extra baffle/trim between the sub and enclosure, would surely make a more noticable different than stuffing it with dacron, which in my experience doesn't do anything audible.

With some high density fibreglass fill you could be seeing an increase close to the 35-40% mark.

over-stuffing will decrease the volume. as you are still adding volume by stuffing. work out the weight you are stuffing with. keep it under 2kg/cu.ft
