Thought this might be a good place to ask while not exactly the subject of this sub forum.

For BASS Battle events we broadcast music to create a vibe and atmosphere. Generally this is just running from a laptop using Windows Media Player, and while MC'ing, I throw out plugs for the organisation and remind them to log on to the website for latest news etc etc ...

What I would like, is a way of having this announcement pre-recorded, and to automatically voice over after a predetermined time (every 15 minutes for example). Does anyone have a PC based solution to this? Ideally, it would probably drop the volume of the music temporarily while the announcement is being made.

Any advice or suggestions appreciated. Posted Image

don't need a PC, just run it in the compressor - the level will change by itself.

buy a cheap music-on-hold unit

was going to say, you could have it as a music file, just play it through whatever you are using, fade the songs out as they end? and put music behind the announcement... would be ezpz, but probably not as polished as what you want though

Thanks ... but none of that is automated, to play on a timed basis - say every 15 minutes or so.
I can load an announcement into our existing MP3 based playlist, but that's not what I am trying to do here.

Automated ... so I don't have to worry about it.

Oh I used to have something that did this I got it off a mate who I used to bump rigs with. I might go did out my old road case and see if I have a CD or thumb drive with the software we used to use.

What Simon is saying could also work but you'd have to up the levels on the announcement so the OA levels got pulled by the compressor probably using and infinite cut then just have the clip programmed to play every 15 minutes. Could all be done by software but if you can find an all in one solution that would be heaps easier.

Additionally this would allow you to add reverb and other effects to make the announcements sound more "professional"

Edit : just looked at the link. What you've found there looks like it'll do the job and a lot more easier to use than the bit of "hand me down" software I had could do it
