oh yeah! it is on, and currently the biggest team too :)
and an awesome group of people if I may say so.

intoduction.......

Name: James Cockman
Car: VZ Commodore Exec (ex-police)
SQ all the way!! I am currently competing in expert due to being forced up by too many wins :D
I am a current judge in ACT, no particular class, I judge whatever class is needed, though usually Advanced these days. I take great joy out of helping others improve their own cars.
Almost finished the current install as per my build log, and after a complete revamp I don't see it changing again any time soon. Although maybe if Alpine could release a single DIN player with optical out, I would be there in a heart beat :)

Current goals: don't really have any. With 2 national titles under my belt I am not as concerned with competition as I have been in the past. I am buidling the system for myself now rather than the judges and if they happen to like it too, well that's just a bonus. I guess one goal would be to see the ACT comps grow even bigger and to even help a NSW scene start up.

my other hobbies outside of car audio are playing floorball and keeping a fish tank, but car audio is very much my passion.

Good work Ant, i'd love to be Team Captain, but you're handling it well.

I'm Rick, and probably the veteran CAASQ/MEASQ competitor amongst the team, despite (i think?) being the youngest.

Previous car was my 1994 Holden Nova and the awards it achieved in a short 3 year career from 2006-2009 totaled 17 trophies, comprising of 9 wins, 3 runner ups, 3 thirds, a Judges Choice Award and an Encouragement Award.

Current car is a 1998 Subaru WRX getting a whole bunch of high end gear and custom installation (as well as a whole host of performance and suspension goodies ;) ). The aim is to better my last setup and awards list. Progress on the build is slow because i tend to work on other peoples cars more than my own - due to now selling and installing high end car stereos as part of a small side business i run.

Thats about it. Questions are welcome - happy to help anyone that asks. :)

Ok, ill keep this rolling along.

Ant's done well to get us this far! :D Thanks buddy!! Very happy to be associated with this great group of guys. I have met all of you at various times, so it seems right and fitting!

Current Project: 1990 e30 BMW 318iS. Which is about to re-commence and get serious,... serious about having fun! This will be a personal build, not really aimed at getting points, but more about being a cool car with a great stereo. However so far I have this.... http://www.mobileele...03#entry1246003

I live in Sydney but often travel to the ACT and Nationals for the MEASQ competitions.
Predominantly I'm interested in music, I grew up in a house and culture (latin american) where music is very important and a large part of my life. We even had a home recording studio, so I was exposed to a variety of both music, musicians and also the technology used to make and record it. I even learnt at a basic level how to play drums, keyboard, guitar and bass.... no I don't play anything anymore. Despite trying several different instruments and even learning to read, just simply lack talent! :D
My hobbies were always about cars, speed, racing, technologies, rc cars/planes. I've raced karts (clubman & Rotax) done lots of car and bike supersprinting, still muck about on my motorbikes (currently have 2) etc, being on wheels was/is constant. Not sure what I'm running from... :D

... car audio was simply an inevitable.

At the age of 14, a family friend gave me a copy of CA&E. I was hooked... I had no idea about it before, but that magazine opened me up to an external world. I started buying the mag or getting it out at the library. At the time... it was my bible. Since coming to Aus, I've always had a job, even as pimply kid, I wanted to supply for myself. So by 16, instead of getting a better BMX, I saved up for 1 year and bought my very first piece of gear... an Audio Control 2XS. An active 2-way cross over. haha!!! Yeah! I didn't have a car, a head unit, a clew... all I knew is that wanted that x/over. My GF at the time thought there was something wrong with me... was she ever right.

These days I enjoy music, in the car, in my lounge, live, or on my cans. Loving much variety in my music, everything from Jimi Hendrix, through Vivaldi, to DJ's (like CAM, Rectangle, Diplo), to my current favs Die Antwoord! For some strange reason, I also really like discovering music of former popular artists, I have this thing about listening to the music, without the fan fare. Eg currently listening to Michael Jackson, Radiohead, Lauryn Hill and Green Day. Not trying to get caught up in their initial hoopla,... just let the music do the talking.

I'm also a fan of using used gear. Modern and "ol school" (hate that term) but really appreciate what we had then and what we have now. I think my amplifier collection is about 45 amps.... greddy and unnecessary for 1 person..... meh.

Like Rick, if anyone has any questions or need help with something, please just let me know. :D

Please guys, lets all do our intros no?!

i love music - that's not a statement but my name ! :)

Unlike Chris I don't have 45 amps. I like to keep it simple. Don't ask me too technical stuff otherwise I'll have to refer you to my professional installers - Fhrx and Audiotech.

Only started playing around with car audio back in Nov 2011 but boy has the bug bit me big time.

My 1st Euro has a KISS install - Splits, 4 channel amp and a sub and great sound from Hertz Mille, Hertz HDP amp and Audison Voce sub.

My 2nd Euro is almost as KISS but has a lot more done to it - Spilts, 4 channel amp and sub with sub amp from Dynaudio Esotec, Hertz HDP amps and Morel Ultimo sub.

Oh both systems has a BitTen processor.

I'm still enjoying both systems. I think they sound great. Now I only need to spend money on CDs.

Well I should probably put something up about me seeing as I started this whole shebang.

Names Antony, yes without the H. Been into car audio since my first car, a camira, which had a pair of 6x9's and 6.5's on the parcel shelf in one big box. Yes I know, very sad. But at 16 I was young and dumb and there was no MEA to steer me in the right direction.
Luckily, I got a better car, a 1976 LX Torana, nice tuff little car with a heavily modded 202 and triple SU's. Great car to drive, which was perfect because it lead me to my first Pro audio Shop, Precision Car Audio in Carlton, where I met Paul Graham and George Kostrevski. I learnt nearly everything I know from these 2 guys who were amazing.
Over the next few years a had many cars and built a great relationship with this 2 guys as we worked on all of them together, trying new things, experimenting and just having some great fun.

These days I'm doing it myself so to speak, I like experimenting and trying new things and dont really care about what I do to a car to get it sounding good. Current project is a VW Beetle, which has been cut, bashed, drilled and modified into my SQ test mule. I like using my hands and have currently stripped the beetle and am trying a KISS install. Which is a big change from the last install in the car which consisted of a Mac mini carpc with touchscreen, DEQX processor, custom built 8 channel amp, Unity horn front stage with ID CD's and SEAS mids, and AE IB15 subs.

Currently still finishing off KISS install and will pop up a thread for it soon.

As with everyone else, please don't hesitate to ask any questions on here or via PM.

Ant

P.S. Lets get rolling with some more intro's team. And dont forget to add the logo to your signature.

Firstly Ant, I'm in Advanced not Expert. Although I normally judge Expert here in the ACT events. Someones got to keep James on his toes and at the peak of SQ in this country.

Bought my first car back in 2001, stuck a CD player and some speakers and an amp+sub in it not long after.

When I bought the GT-P in 2006, I'd already had mods for it before I took delivery. Head unit was already in my hands, and when the speakers arrived a week later, they went straight in. Factory Premium Sound my ass. It was woeful, and had to go. Thankfully it was gone within two weeks. The GT-P has three or four revisions of SQ gear go through it was always competitive until old age got to the head unit and it released the smoke at one event. And is currently retired as for as music SQ goes, exhaust SQ is pretty damn wonderful.

Now as a daily and SQ competition car the Fairlane has only just started it's journey, but it will become the best SQ setup I've built. Despite not even being run in or tuned yet, I got praise for it's tonality (jeers for staging lol) in it's first comp with all new gear. There's more to come, much more.

The ACT group (hopefully that'll extend to the rest of TI) is tight knit, and we're always helping each other, even if it means a helping mate but competitor get more points. The goal as Ant put it is clear, to take home all the Nationals gold this year.

So over the last couple of days, I've worked out a few things. Firstly I worked out what my password is for the forums, and I now know my username. I have it written down on my desk, just incase.

Secondly I worked out that there's a bit of the forums here where my name's in the list! James mentioned a team to me a couple of months back, then there was this whole initiation ritual. Don't know how it went for the rest of you but some of the stuff he was asking for were pretty extreme! Anyway, things have healed up, had a quick read, get the general gist of it, so here goes.

Name is Travis. I drive a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Coupe.

I compete in SQ, currently in Intermediate. This is my second year of competing. Got into it all because of 2LOUD2OLD (James) basically. Turned up one day with my extremely basic setup and somehow pulled a 2nd place.

Since then things have change a lot. I'm very much into the building side of things. With the exception of trimming I am strictly DIY, love putting things together myself.

Some of the technical stuff is still lost on me, all a bunch of numbers that somehow add up, but I'm slowly learning stuff.

Now if I could just get a problem-free amplifier or two, I'd be well on my way!

Ooh I'm a bit late to this thread, but none the less.

I'm Anthony, my stereo is inside a 2002 VY Berlina.

My goal for the coming season of MEASQ is to compete in every round and try not to change my gear, only tuning or minor details.
I first became interested in car stereo when I was 15, I had a VL Commodore (Was a nice car, not a bogan commodore).. I didn't even have a licence yet. I installed a basic Pioneer headunit, then the bug bit. From there I had slightly more complicated system in a VS Commodore with multiple amplifiers etc, now I am doing my second to third proper install (and I hope my best install) in my VY.

I want to thank everyone who has helped me, everyone from the ACT comps have helped me a lot, I wouldn't have a tenth of my knowledge if it were not for you guys and for MEA in general.

I'll try my best to do well at Nationals in Intermediate next year! :)
