Hey everyone,
I just sold my magna and got a 2007 Hilux SR5 4x4 Dual cab V6. The whole sound system is currently stock but am planning on working on the sound system soon. I just want to know what to use. I already have some equipment in mind but I'd just like to know your opinions and whether what I have listed will sound bad or lack in a particular area.

This is what I am planning:

- Kicker components in the front : http://www.jbhifi.co...kers-sku-99622/
- Kicker amp to power the components: http://www.jbhifi.co...fier-sku-72222/ or this amp http://www.jaycar.co...SUBCATID=1028#4
- These for the back however I am not sure whether to power these with an amp or just use the H/U : http://www.jbhifi.co...kers-sku-69744/
- This H/U (this won't happen straight away, I'll just survive the stock one for a while): http://www.ebay.com....=item3f10e28702
- And possibly a slimline underseat 10" or 8" sub, just don't know which one to get in terms of brand and size. Although if the splits in the front make a decent amount of bass, I may just forget about a sub.

So what does everyone think? Will this sound good?

Thanks

I'd be auditioning a few different brands of splits. They're is a lot of choice in that price range and Kicker wouldn't be my first choice but buy what you think sounds best. Try and listen to speakers in a car rather than a demo board in a shop as they will sound quite different. To get the best out of your front speakers you need to seal up the door and deaden it with Dynamat or similar. You won't get nearly as much deep bass from sixes as you will from a sub, though. I'd be getting a good pair of splits for the front and a four channel to suit. Run the fronts off two channels and a small sub off the other two channels, bridged. Just run the factory rears off the head unit.

Thanks for your advice mate. As you said, I shoudn't just go for the kickers straight away and I think I should look around. The best thing to do I think is do things right the first time which is why I will not just settle for anything and want to get the best equipment I can. As for the sub, I don't have any room for a normal sub in the car anywhere so the only subs I can get are the slimline active under seat ones or replace the back speakers with 6 inch subs and sound deaden the rear doors.

Does anyone know of a good slimline active sub I could get? Either 8 or 10 inch? Thanks

I dunno mate. However I know it's also in Sound Quality Disscusion. This is because I put in in there and one the admins didn't think it should be there and switched it to here. So back to my question, has anyone had and good experiences with slimline active subs or has some good knowledge of them? If so, what do you think is the best one?

I don't want to get any old slim active sub as I know someone that has a fusion 8" one in his dual cab Rodeo and it sounds like sh*t

the Mod who has moved it left behind a link so as to aide in the finding of the thread... if you notice the one in the beginners section shows 0 views, and when clicked takes you right here in the "general" section...

How much room is under the seats? Might be better off with a passive, slim line 8" in a custom enclosure running off a four channel. Never really tried any active 8" subs. You should be able to trial some different ones in the car once it's set up for it though. Just plug one in, listen, try a different one, see which one you like best.

Hey mate,
I have about 100mm (and thats from the floor to the bottom of the seat). So anything 100mm will be literally rubbing against the bottom of the seat.
Thanks

I'm speaking from experience w/my hilux dual cab I found the best setup for me was high priced 6.5" components in the front, forget about back fill you don't need it in a hilux. I decided on 2 mid to large power 2 channel amps one under each seat. I already had the amps plus my 4 ch Alpine Mrv was too big under the seat so I didn't bother with a 4 ch. Then I strapped a 6.5" EL SAS Bazooka tube behind the back bench seat. If you can fit an 8" in the new hilux it may be a better option. Bazooka tubes IMHO are a fantastic bass solution! and have been in many competition winning cars. I listen to all sorts of music but this small system shined w/rock or country rock music, I really enjoyed this setup!

Hey mate,
I am thinking about the setup I listed for a sub in my other thread here (http://www.mobileele...-you-recommend/). Do you think this setup would sound good?
Thanks
