Another grapevine post - from Facebook again.

Some of you may know that recently, Directed Electronics (USA), owners of the Orion Car Audio brand sold it to MD Audio Engineering, another US based company.
From everything I have heard from those "in the know", this will mean a great future for the brand. They have a strong sense of the brands roots, and obviously Directed had to focus on way too many brands in their portfolio so perhaps some things were overlooked at times.

So moving on to now, MD Audio Engineering posted up this image on Facebook:

Maybe, just maybe they are giving us a hint? Bringing 'ol school back! We can only hope.
The early range of Orion amplifiers were regarded to this day by many as some of the best amplifiers ever made.

Make of it what you will .. this is The Grapevine :)

Interesting.

The problem with old school amplifier is that releasing them again into the current market will probably show us all just how old they are... And would a modern design in a budget minded market ever live up to the rose-coloured image painted in many peoples' minds?

Ive never really gone for flashey amps, an amp is a simple piece of the system with probably the least impact accousticly. Build quality is the main thing i look for,oh and real world clean power.I wouldnt change my dls for an orion, but wouldnt hesitate to recommend them if they went back to oldschool build qual...pre directed and chinese boards :P
