Hi guys. got a few q's.

I'm looking to get better midrange bass.

here's my build-thread. - http://www.mobileele...latest-install/

the list as it stands

head unit - clarion slideface DXZ776USB
mono amp - alpine mrd m1000. its an old v12
4ch amp - kicker 4ch - ZX350.4 birthed at just under 80wrms per channel
front tweeters - mb quart discus tweeters - DSF216 (blew a woofer)
front woofers - DDC6.5 6.5" woofers
rear stage - MB quart discus 2 way 6.5"

subwoofer - dd2512
wiring - stinger / lightning audio. 0ga battery to distro / 4ga distro to amp

So I'm thinking what I want to do is replace the rear door coaxials with a set of dedicated midrange woofers. I have looked online but haven't listened to the ddw and ddaw range. they look to suit my needs based on spec sheets. i don't want more spl so to speak but I am getting some distortion with the DDC woofers trying to turn the volts / gains up just that tad further. I also want to seal my ported dd2512.

hopefully this will give me more punch and the rear woofers will make up for tuning the front stage crossover at a higher frequency to allow more powah!

Now I want to maintain a stealth setup which limits me to a 6.5" speaker. i'm familiar and v happy with the DD brand but open to suggestion. i also think that I may be looking at a 4ch amp upgrade? the current one is the oldest item in my line-up in terms of how my system has grown as time goes on and i feel that i may be held back by this. you tell me please! the rear doors are sealed very well and I've used gaffa, painted mdf and dynamat as well as bitumen paint wherever possible so i think the doors are ready for a straight swapover.

what does everyone think? also where can i buy dd in aust and does anyone have prices? thanks in advance for any help at all. I'm well above the majority with my knowledge but also well below the par when it comes to MEA. cheerio - mitch aka SIroller

also btw if anyone has anything 2nd hand f.s. that is in good nick I'm open to your sales pitch! I trust that members on here know how to treat gear. i wouldn't buy used elsewhere.

Damn! I just read over the new head units under $300 review on this website. I thought by now that my h/u would be a tad outdated and the features in it would be available at half the $600 I paid but nothing in the article compares in tunability. very shocked... just thought I'd share as I was also considering upgrading my H/U and passing the clarion onto my dad but scrap that plan!

I'd be concerned that either of those will be difficult to fit in terms of the depth and diameter of the magnet / motor on the back of it. Only one way to find out though and that is to measure!

cheers big Valven. I have some pretty decent sized spacers in the front and the ddc's fit well. their magnets are huge compared to the splits i can see as being offered on the dd page at the moment.

I'm also not worried as I don't often have the rear windows down in the car. the front doortrims are hacked to fit the ddc's and the rears have had a beating aswell so i'm not precious with them. I'd be happy to put in extra spacers and slice away at the doortrim. I'm beginning to invest in good nic doortrims for when i sell the car from wreckers yards as the ones in the car at the moment are showing their age and that the car was used as a farm car by my dad for a year.
