Could putting a 370z headunit in fix this? Or a 370z facia kit (if there is any)?

What are my options?

I am considering this car but the headunit situation is raging me.

I cant imagine why a fibreglass guy couldnt just make one from scratch? Seems easy enough?

Keep digging on the interwebz as I've seen a "conversion kit" which changes all menus to engrish. I cannot remember where is was I saw it though.

might have been http://www.myg37.com/
or http://forums.nicocl...-g37-forum.html

IMO an awesome car with plenty of OE integration capabilities and good potential for SQ. They have factory 9s or 10s in the doors too

I cant seem to find anything on facias for it or jap->eng conversion....

Surely theres something...

Would a 370z headunit work in it? Couldnt I just buy that from Nissan and then fit some other crap to it to make it good?

sorry to sound rude but keep looking, it is there.

to buy from Nissan would cost thousands. If you have money to burn then it 'may' work but there are other cost effective options

Go see Chris Rogers at Audio Express.

I spoke to him the other day and he confusingly mentioned it would cost $10,000 to obtain my english translation goal.

He also told me changing to an Infiniti/370z headunit will not work...

This is rather confusing but I also spoke to the guys at Moorooka Northfield and they seem to agree its more time/money than its worth.

SO!

What options do I have for a seperate headunit or dsp or even some sort of headunit that can have a display wired to the oe screen?

you really didnt listen did you?? I have already said not possible without a serious injection of cash. when speaking to you that was not the answer you wanted to hear.

you buy that car if you want a quick cruiser. its not somthing to FK around with. when you bring the LAN down in one of these cars or destroy a BCM in it changing the stereo is the LAST thing on your mind. getting it to where it will actually START will be the beginning of your issues.

as for the lang swap . not happening to my knowledge. the only firmware upgrade for them was the 2001->2004.5 V35 series. CKV36 and CV36 no one has done.

to do the Z34 swap you will need a LOT of changes to the car. the AV integration box will be one and that has NO change from $5k new ex nissan japan. the screen will then need swapping , harnesses changed and two other control modules swapped. in all its a $10k exercise. I do not make this crap up for the hell of it. thats what it costs..

NOW..

if you HAVE NOT bought the car. buy one WITH OUT bose audio and navi - then this CAN be done.

and that last one CAN be made touch screen if you like.

cost for that was was a mid 4 figure amount..

want it done - you know where to find me :)

Swapping the headunit from an American one (g37, 370z etc) costs around $1000 max. I was simply told by them that the connections would be different and subsequently I gave up.

just came across this thread and had a little chuckle as went through this like many before me and many to come.
Getting a v36 without nav and bose is the easiest way as you can then add things.
Chris Rogers had posted some time ago that the new navara was the closest he had seen, but would still involve a lot of work.
Another melbourne guy I spoke to had a base model and added bluetooth and other bits.
wogboy(yes do a google search) has added an aftermarket nav box that with a switch displays through factory screen.
US units have too many plugs and buttons are on the opposite side and are not movable (I have them installed) looks nice but everything is opposite.
It really does tarnish what is a lovely car. So if you can ignore the screen is even there unless your parking then your set.
OH and then there's the asian on the cluster ;-)
Did I mention you cant buy anything locally for that price bracket that even compares? so there has to be a negative.. and yes they chew too much juice.

paul,

very few listen to me though... (some seem to know better.) anthony is quite well versed on his V36.

last one of these I built the jap cluster was swapped over for a canadian one and distance reset to match the original. that fixed the japanese in the cluster.

latest addition to these cars is cruise control and that is done in such a way that it looks original and behaves like the original non radar version.
