hi guys ive been looking around to add a processor to Alpine IVA-W520EBT mainly for time alignment. i think i understand most of the differences between the h100 and h800 however i do need to clear some things up.
for starters i plan on using a 2way + sub setup and dont want to use a rux controller. how much functionality can i get through the headunit without one
Also i was also wondering if an older H701 would work with it
thanks in advance

ok so ive been told an older H701 will work. im ruling out the h800 because of the cost so basically what advantages or disadvantages would i have from using a h701 vs a h100?

Compare the specs between the two. The H701 offers far more tuning potential, and probably some features you won't need (eg: Dolby Digital and centre channel); it also caters for digital input, but the improvement in SQ is marginal via optical.
You should be able to easily find downloadable owner's manuals for each product, so have a read through them.

isnt the optical only for dvd's? my main concern is the rux controller. if i can control everything on the h701 without it besides the auto eq of course id be happy. my main prority is the crossover controls and time correction

Optical is indeed for DVD, but also CD playback.
AFAIK, the W520 can control the H701 directly from its touchscreen with requiring the RUX. It is eluded to in the owner's manual. H700 would require the RUX; it did not have the firmware inbuilt to cater for direct control.
