Ive got the spx-17 pro`s running active with a pioneer dex-p99rs and they sound awesome.
Midbass near cracks open your chest on rock and live music (providing you sound deaden your doors properly) and the tweeters are really nice sounding and not bright at all.

I read a lot of reviews about the lack of midbass with these components before i listened to them in an installers vehicle, then i was instantly sold on them.
Believe me every non car audio enthusiast that gets in my car and experiences them craps themselves.

I also recently heard the expensive focal be`s to compare them to my alpines and i wasn't as amazed as i thought i would be.

But my ears aren't your ears though so you need to listen to some different types.

For SQL I would definitely look at the DLS UP6i's.
You might also take a look at the new ARC 6.2's, both these speakers have a high power handling and rather high sensitivity.
