yo !
last night i competed in the narre db drags. and i lost close too 1 db off my score !
i made a 144.6 at the good friday event so i played the same song and left the box in the same place and still only managed a 143.
the best i could get on the night was a 143.8

the best ive gotten with my setup ( re audio 12s sxx and a soundstream 2500d) is a 144.6 db ? should i be expecting a little more ?
my friend in his ve wagon got a 140 db with 2 RF p2 12s and a 500 rms amp !

so i dont know if im doing something worng or just having bad luck ?
any basics that i should double check on ?

cheers

What car was your 144 in?

I got a 144 off essentially the Digital Designs equivalent of your hardware (sedan). And a 144 is a lot louder than a 140, so I wouldn't be worried.

Were your driver/passenger seats in the same position? Aircon on / aircon off? window up/down? Have the gains changed etc?

If you cant do a 144 with that hardware, i'd look at your box design and electrical system. That, or turn up the gain and / or do some sealed-box sweeps to find your cabin resonance, then download a song to that tuning.

OH, I GET IT! "SPLvrWAGON" :D

i think the issues you may have run into last night were some kind of combination of weather, and possible battery level...

weather will always play a key roll in your scores, i know several people who can sway up to 3db depending upon weather alone, so it's something to keep in mind, as well as how charged your battery was, i think swaying 1db in a street driven car is an acceptable amount...

i still feel your enclosure is about as good as it's going to get whilst remaining musical, it's already right on the edge of still being practical, altho i'm happy to hear other advice on that matter...

wow dam weather never thought it would play such a big role !
thinking about it now, it was pretty hot on good friday when i got the 144.6 in the wagon !
i would of thought it would be better if it where cold so the car panels are stiff and the subs could take more of a pounding cuz of the cold.

well you learn something new everyday !

its to do with high and low pressure in the weather the air is thicker or thinner therefor making it easier or harder to compress in the cabin....

i would assume this would be also slightly effecting the tuning of an enclosure on a miniscule scale
