and nah, i wish the budget could be stretched.. if it could i would probably get a DQX with CCD. i wasnt planning on getting an eq until he sprung the opportunity for these onto me.

I first came across the DQX EQs when I was photographing a custom install for my installer Gav some mths back. At the time I thought it was an overkill and didn't consider to install them to my system due increased wiring complexity and additional weight and besides my head unit - HX-D2 already offers a 5 band parametric equalizer feature with user selectable freq range to adjust.

Now my system is tuned to the best of his abilities with the RTA and I wish we had more adjustments to bring us closer to the flat line. With the DQX Gav reckons he can make any cheap speakers sound as smooth and warm as a set of Dyns with the adjustments it offers. Obviously they won't play too loud or as durable as the Dyns due to inferior materials but they can be tuned to sound exactly how you want them.

I would seriously consider them when I upgrade my system in the future. I prob won't bother with the remote DDC controller for my intended usage though. But for a show/competition car the DDC is very slick indeed.

Man - that is overkill unless of course he is running 12 speakers actively without TA.

I am a big fan of Audiocontrol, don't get me wrong, but their latest range of digital gear all costs ~$1000 and doesn't do anything more than the last range which they brought out (although now it is impossible to just buy a digital Xover, you have to get the EQ packaged with it).

And honestly there is only so much good an off-board EQ and Xover can do due mainly to TA and the like. Take the above example - there will be 6 speakers all independantly crossed over and EQ'd but all running off the same TA.
To my mind you would be better off saving your $2000 (plus however much the DDC's are) and get an uber-SQ HU. In fact for $2K alone you can currently get a P9 in the FS forum which has a much better range of features!

Just my opinion anyway

Gav, top installer, i know the owner of the car im them pics and he did a great job. The car also has over 6kw of power, so i think it is worth it. The SQ is awesome.
