3 ways are harder to position so they spund good as there are more components, u also need to give em a bit more juice as there is a 3rd driver. u can run them of a 2chan amp and use a passive crossover, some 3 way crossovers also offer active or bi amping( this means u can either use 2, 4 or 6 channels to run the splits)

if you want to upgrade then id sujest go a higher level 2way system for ease, but if you want to buy a relly big 2 chan amp or buy a 2nd amp(to run bi amped or active) add in the cost of gettign ur doors/kicks re done to suit the new 3 way setup the cost starts building far higher than just the extra cost of buying 3 way over 2way splits.

pros: when set up well it'll sound better as u have a driver that has dedicated mid bass duties while the other 2 drivers do the rest. u also have greater tuning possibilities if you are running bi amped or active as u can set eq's on individual drivers as well as how much juice they get in relation to each other, they also look bling IMO.

3 ways will kill 2 ways any day of the week. providing that the installer know what he is doing. I have seen no cons for 3 ways at all except the cost is much more expensive. SQ wise it is good $$$ wise it is bad for your pocket.

yep you can use 2 f240's u just need to select a set of splits that can be bi amped or run active(if they only have passive crossovers u'll need to get one built for them which is more $$$), and that you like the sound of. u cant beat a 3 way setup unless its installed poorly...

yep should be fine as others said..... i am planning on putting a bridged T420 Alpine amp per door (running passive) to run a set of dynaudio 240GT's so i shouldnt see any prob with that.

have you got an eb falcon?
if so :
most eb models have stock 4" in the door, however there is the huge space down the bottom of the door where the map holder is located, so you could fit a 6" or bigger possibly down there.

cheers

A mate had 3 way Hertz speakers in his old swift. The stock speaker location is on top of the dash, near the windscreen. The 4's went in there, 6's in the door and tweeter was angle mounted on the mirror bit (can't think of proper name.)

The sound stage was absolutely amazing. Especially the placement of the 4. Even run with a sub standard amp. If I was every building a top quality car I would replicate this setup (with good amps though).

I dont see why you should not be able to fit a 3 way set in. The 6" factory mount will still be able to hold a the midrange (4" typically) with minor or little modifications.

if your looking for brands to audition try dynaudio or focal (used to own polyglass 165v3e), and there are many more brands around with 3 way speakers.

cheers
