I've been looking at the specifications of both these high end tweets:

Supremo - 6ohm - 220w - 1400Hz to 25000Hz (300Hz to 50000Hz transient?)
Esotar - 8ohm - 130w - 2000Hz to 30000Hz.

Now on paper the Supremo has the distinct advantage at considerably less than half the cost. Is there something i'm not seein here?
What are your comparitive opinions and experiences with these tweeters to help me with my choice. I'll be running active 2 way front stage with an 8" mid.
cheers

Selling Fudd an amp (for a fraction of the real price) that had been returned by Autobarn Geelong which had been incorrectly used by AB Geelong and turned out to be faulty when Fudd started using it.
Whilst he was given a new amp after it could not be fixed, he never acknowledged any of the assistance given and bitches to this day about it.

i may be wrong here, but if your going just 2-ways, with one of them being a 8" mid, wouldnt you want a tweeter that can play down relatively low?

Quid, thats the beauty of these tweets, they play low.
The esotar comes in a 2 way setup from dynaudio.
the mw160 & mw170 play up to 3500Hz

Bobby , I doubt i could find anyone who has these installed in the same car let alone two cars running the same power in exactly the same environment etc etc sound boards are not a good indication also and yet I know of no suppliers over here who have both tweets. :D

that is true, but the specs are not going to tell you what they sound like are they?

no, and i respect that. my issue is really the difference in sound quality Vs the difference in price. If in everyones opinion they don't sound that different to each other then I'll save myself $800.00 and get the Supremo.

I think the supremo for the two way setup.

You need low end extension of the tweet. Otherwise look into horns.
The larger mid will have issues reproducing the midrange where the Supremo shines.

With the money you saved look at going three way with a CDM-54 midrange.

Which mid will u be using?

I cant go 3 way active. My Alpine 7897 HU has only 3 pre-outs.
I would have to go passive with the tweet & mid & drive the 8" active separately.

eg: Coming from the bandpassed channel out of headunit which you'd normally use to run the mid in ur two way setup. Run this into your 4 channel amp (Use RCA splitters if your amp doesnt have the ability).

2 channels highpassed at amps to run midrange.
2 channels low passed at amps to run midbass.

= 4 bandpassed channels

This means you have lost the ability to use all your HU time correction & eq facilities on each individual component. I would suggest installing the midrange & midbass in very close proximity if you can. but you already know that :D

You can pick up the Morel's for pretty cheap, i've seen them go for as little as $550 NZ (i.e about $500 AUD)... for that, i think the Esotars would be hard pressed to make a cause for extra expenditure :)

If you're willing to spend big bikkies on tweeters tho, you may want to look into the raw tweeters used in the Rainbow Audio Reference speakers... they not only sound fantastic but look good enough to star in Desperate Housewives.
